Whipped body butters are a huge game-changer for moisturizing your skin. As much as facial products are given the spotlight, body butters are just as essential in self-care routines.

For areas on the body that dry out fast, like ankles and elbows, body butter is great since it acts as a sturdy coating. Since it lasts longer on the skin, applying body butter can work better than using regular lotion.

Body butter locks in moisture naturally, so the best time to use it is right after stepping out of the shower (plus it feels sooo good). And as the name suggests, body butters often contain natural butter or oils as their key ingredient.

As a result, the texture is thick and acts as an intensive moisturizer. But here’s where whipped body butter and regular body butter are different.

Every homemade body butter recipe has natural ingredients, so the oils used are also made to complement our skin. Even though each product can use different essential oils, the foundation is the same. The main difference is within the texture.

For whipped body butter, since they’ve been fluffed, the formula is thin and spreads easily. It absorbs into the skin faster while still maintaining the benefits of soluble butter-like fats.

So if you’ve ever felt like some moisturizers are too thick, whipped body butters solve this textural issue! And of course, they always smell great.

I’ve gathered some of my favorite products that have rich, natural formulas and great scents. I hope you love them as much as I do!

9 Whipped Body Butters Rich in Scent and Formula

1. Shea Body Butter

This product smells just like it sounds—its sweet scent is reminiscent of softly blended sugar with hints of pear and other flowers.

Since it’s made with vitamin-rich shea butter and avocado oil, the formula is creamy without being too greasy. The shea butter moisturizes and softens the skin, while the avocado oil soothes and hydrates.

They also use apricot oil to make your skin glow as well! But the best part about Nectar whipped body butters is that they are 100% vegan, handmade in the US, while also being cruelty, paraben, and sulfate free.

So not only does it smell good, but it also nourishes your skin with natural, healthy ingredients!

2. Creme de Corps Soy Milk & Tony Whipped Body Butter

The Creme de Corps whipped body butter is made with shea butter and jojoba butter. Since it’s also infused with soy milk and honey, it carries a light, mild scent without being overbearing.

While it’s good for all skin types, it is also good for sensitive skin since jojoba butter is hypoallergenic and pure. It absorbs into the skin quickly without causing any flare-ups or tingling sensations!

The honey not only acts as a softening and moisturizing ingredient but also gives its sweet signature scent. It even incorporates a fresh, invigorating scent that has earthy, floral undertones—it’s irresistible.

3. Sugar Rush Whipped Body Butter

This whipped body butter smells just like tart grapefruit. While some citrus scents can sting because it has sharp undertones, this one has a light, heavenly base note.

It’s also vegan without any paragons, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, or sodium lauryl sulfate.

This particular formula invigorates the skin by using sweet almond oil, shea butter, macadamia oil, and vitamin E.

4. Sugar Rush Cake Butter

Just like the Citrus Butter whipped body butter, this cake butter is light, cruelty-free, and dermatologist tested. The texture is also velvety smooth without being overpowering either.

The main difference between the two is that this one is made especially for dry and combination skin!

It has a high concentration of fatty acids and vitamins that evens out and soothes uneven skin tones. Since they use natural ingredients, the vitamin E formula acts as a preservative as well as an antioxidant and emollient.

5. Unscented Got Me Whipped Body Butter

If scented moisturizers are not your thing, I’ve got you covered. This body butter is unscented, but it shines through with its ingredients and formula.

The formula consists of organic shea butter, argan oil, natural plant extracts, and different vitamins. The blend makes for a hydrating, glowing recipe that ensures a pudding-like consistency.

This body butter is also vegan with no parabens, petro-by-products, mineral oil, phthalates, or propylene glycol. Or as they like to call it on their website, “no nasties”!

6. Fenty Skin Butter Drop Refillable Whipped Oil Body Cream

Since we’re talking about skincare products, you know I had to talk about Fenty Skin! This product is only available at Sephora, and it’s worth the hype.

This product won Allure’s Best of Beauty Award in 2021, and if you’ve been wanting to try Fenty have Riri’s Super Bowl performance, this is a great one to start with!

It doesn’t disappoint with its formula either—they used 7 luxurious oils, shea butter, and glycerin to create a luminous, long-lasting effect on the skin. The cream also has a clean, fresh scent with hints of floral and tropical fruits.

As Fenty Skin is a part of Clean at Sephora, this product has the stamp of approval with its Clean seal. That means the ingredients are friendly to both humans and the environment, which can be highlighted through its refillable packaging!

7. Unscented Whipped Argan Pro-Retinol Body Butter

This pro-retinol body butter tackles ensuring enriching hydration and anti-aging in its formula. By using retinol that’s naturally sourced from pink algae, the result is a rich cream that firms up the skin.

Their product works well with normal, dry, combination, and oily skin while correcting dryness, dullness, and uneven texture. By using pink algae extract, this product greatly reduces the visibility of wrinkles.

They also use quercetin, which is an antioxidant that protects against tissue injury and drug toxicities. Since they also use 100% pure argan oil, there are plenty of other antioxidants along with fatty acids and vitamin E.

Like most of the products on this list, this product is gluten-free, cruelty-free, and vegan! Just like Fenty Skin whipped body butter, this brand is also a part of Clean at Sephora.

8. Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter

If you like the scent of apricot, this whipped body butter will smell like a dream. The vanilla apricot scent is fresh, but light, which means the only downside is that it fades too soon!

Since it’s also infused with vanilla, I’ve found that people either LOVE or HATE the scent. But besides the scent, its main ingredients are 100% pure argan oil, shea butter, and white tea extract.

Despite being a small business, the product comes with recyclable packaging and is vegan, gluten-free, and cruelty-free. If small brands can do it, so can big brands!

That, of course, also means that this product has Sephora’s Clean seal.

9. Undaria Algae Body Butter

I’m a fan of OSEA and you can read my OSEA review here. I couldn’t resist this decadent mixture of natural fragrances—it smells like lime, grapefruit, and cypress, with sweet hints of mango mandarin. Anything that smells fruity and tropical is my weakness, and the mixture of a woodsy scent with floral undertones gives it a sophisticated flair.

Their key ingredients include Undaria Seaweed, shea butter, dipalmitoyl hydroxyproline (DPHP), oat kernel extract (ceramides), and skin-identical moisturizing complex (saccharide isomerate).

These ingredients def sound complex, but they all work super together to leave the skin feeling supple and deeply moisturized.

This rich but lightweight cream works for up to 72 hours without leaving any unwanted residue.

The best part about whipped body butters is that you can re-whip the butter with an electronic hand mixer. This extends the shelf life, and you can re-whip your body butter whenever you feel like the texture is hardening or drying out.

Slathering on fluffy, airy creams is always a treat, so I hope you enjoy these! Since body butter can be made with natural ingredients at home as well, you could even do a fun home project by making your own.
