1. Belvedere Palace

I’m starting off our list with one of my favorite places in Vienna; the Belvedere Palace. This gorgeous Baroque palace is located in the southern part of the city, and it provides stunning views over both Vienna and its nearby suburbs.

This UNESCO world heritage site is perfect for some Instagram photography. The garden area is beaming with fountains and classical sculptures, perfect for a romantic photo to bring some softness to your feed.

The palace was once the main summer residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy, and today it is home to several museums. While the gardens are particularly beautiful, you don’t want to forget to also take some shots inside the palace as well, the stunning baroque architecture is incredible.

2. Palace of Justice

Another must-have for your IG feed in Vienna is the Palace of Justice.

Located in the center of Vienna, this neo-Renaissance building was originally used as a courthouse and today it houses many different government offices. You will see plenty of locals and tourists walking around its gardens and courtyard, as the impressive building is one of the more popular photography spots.

But don’t let this intimidate you, with the right angle and timing, you won’t see any of them in your pic!

Its stunning exterior makes it an ideal spot for taking some amazing shots with its grand columns, intricate sculptures, and golden statues.

But for some real magic, head inside to snag a photo on the grand staircase. The ceiling looks like a greenhouse with huge windows bringing in natural light making it one of the best Vienna Instagram spots!

There are guards inside, so make sure to be respectful when taking your photos. They are used to content creators coming in but this is still a place of work for many locals.

3. State Hall of the Austrian National Library

A harder shot to get, but one of the most unique spots in Vienna, is the State Hall of the Austrian National Library.

As one of the less popular tourist attractions, not many people discover the library’s huge bookshelves and stunning ceiling murals but luckily, I got you!

It has become a must for some of the coolest travel content creators.

The reason this one is a bit harder to get is it is always open to the public so people are always in and out of the library. I recommend getting there right when it opens to have the highest chance of getting your shot without people walking in the background.

Its stunning artwork and tall ceilings make it a great spot for taking some big-picture shots, so don’t forget to bring your wide lens!

4. Vienna State Opera House

The Vienna Opera House needs no introduction as one of the most beautiful opera houses in the world. And it’s no surprise that it is a great spot for taking some incredible pictures.

The building itself was built in the late 1800s, and its iconic exterior makes it an ideal spot to take an amazing shot. The all-white building stands out against the blue sky and it really shows off the Austrian architecture.

To get the best position to shoot pictures of the Vienna State Opera you’ll need to head across the street to the Albertina Museum, this will let you get some great shots without the crowds of people.

And if you’re lucky enough to attend a show, make sure to take some pictures while inside as well, it is truly an experience like no other!

5. Schmetterlinghaus

If you are needing some nature content for your grid, then you have to check out Schmetterlinghaus.

This beautiful butterfly house is located next to the Burggarten, and it houses a large collection of different species of butterflies and moths.

It makes for some incredible photos with its bright colors, flowers and foliage, and natural light that streams in from the glass ceiling. Plus, it is the perfect spot to get some selfie shots with the butterflies flying around you!

It is located right around the corner from the Opera House making it easy to get both shots in a short amount of time without running around the city.

It does cost 7 euros to get in but you will be able to explore the entire butterfly house and take as many pictures as you want.

6. Schönbrunn Palace & Gardens

You can’t go to Vienna and not get a shot in front of the Schönbrunn Palace & Gardens.

This iconic landmark is a must-see for anyone visiting Vienna, and its grand facade makes it the perfect spot to take some amazing shots for your feed. Plus, there are plenty of gardens nearby that you can use as backdrops for your photos too.

The building’s yellow hues stand out against the green foliage and it’s a great way to show off the beauty of Vienna, as well as brighten up your feed in the spring.

Explore and find some of the amazing tree tunnels and rose gardens scattered around the palace grounds, they will make your photos look like something out of a fairytale!

If you choose to tour the inside of the palace you will see some beautiful art and architecture but you won’t be able to take photos, unfortunately.

7. Palmenhaus Schönbrunn

If you can’t tell by now, I love some garden content! And Palmenhaus Schönbrunn is another one of the best Vienna Instagram spots.

One second you will be in Vienna and the next a tropical island with its Mediterranean gardens, palm trees, and other exotic plants. And the best part is that this indoor palm house is free to explore.

My favorite shot here is on the white spiraling staircase that is surrounded by beautiful glass windows and green plants.

And make sure to also explore the outdoor parts of the Palace Park, it is full of wildlife and flowers making it the perfect place for more nature-inspired photos.

8. Karlskirche

If you aren’t familiar with the name Karslskirche, I’m almost positive you have seen the photos. This baroque Roman Catholic church is one of the most beautiful and grand churches in Vienna and it makes for some stunning photos.

The two towering columns with their striking green domes are a European staple and they are instantly recognizable as soon as you see them.

To get the best photo, try to get there early in the morning or late at night when the sun is low and there aren’t many people around. This way you can capture some unique angles and silhouettes in your shots!

For something more dramatic try shooting from the bottom looking up at the facade. Your photo will stand out from the crowd and you will be able to show off all of the intricate details on this beautiful building.

9. Café Central Wein

What’s a trip to Vienna without some Viennese coffee and a treat?

A photoshoot in this iconic cafe is a no-brainer for me. Work and play? Say less!

Regardless of where you sit in Cafe Central you will get some instaworthy backdrops with their high mirrored walls and sparking chandeliers.

Plus, you can also get some incredible shots of the cakes and pastries for a carousel post. The Sachet Torte was mine – and everyone else’s – favorite. The chocolatey goodness is deserving of some photos before it’s devoured.

10. Rathausplatz

For a more urban feel in your photos, Rathausplatz is the perfect spot. The popular square has some interesting architecture and monuments that serve as great backdrops for any photo shoot.

Obviously, this spot is the most magical when it has Rathausplatz’s epic Christmas market going on, like when we were visiting!

My favorite shots here are taken just outside of the town hall itself. The building’s massive size combined with its baroque and neo-gothic style creates an impressive backdrop for your photos.

Rathausplatz brings something a little different than the typical tourist shots.

In the summertime, there are also many events held here that can make great subjects for your Instagram posts. From open-air concerts to markets—you will never be short of ideas on how to tell stories through your photos!

Address: Rathauspl., 1010 Wien, Austria (Linked on Google maps here)

11. Brasserie Palmenhaus

Not only is this brasserie a great spot to try some Viennese coffee and desserts, it’s also a whole vibe.

The tall, curved glass ceilings, palm trees, and natural light make it ideal for snapping some beautiful photos.

Address: Burggarten 1, 1010 Wien, Austria (Linked on Google maps here)

12. St. Stephen’s Cathedral

Last but certainly not least is the stunning St. Stephen’s Cathedral. It is one of Vienna’s most iconic landmarks and one of the most Instagrammable spots in the city.

The church has been standing for over 700 years!

The cathedral is best photographed from the outside early in the morning when the light is hitting the rooftop tile perfectly. The vibrant blue tile work is also something to capture as it stands out from a mile away.

Climb one of the towers for some of the best views in the city, and snag a few up-close photos of the spire.

No matter how you choose to capture this historic landmark, your photos will easily be amongst the best of Vienna!
