I’m excited to share a list of the best bars in Vienna! Viennese culture is like no other when it comes to cocktail bars and cafes. There’s something I find so special about grabbing a unique cocktail or glass of wine in one of the most aesthetically pleasing cities in Europe.

The city is known for its incredible architecture, and many of the buildings are hundreds of years old. I was lucky enough to enjoy a few drinks all over Vienna and now I’m going to share them with you!

Planning a trip to Vienna? Be sure to book Vienna’s top attractions through GetYourGuide (my fav when traveling abroad)!

Sip on a fresh cocktail overlooking the city or enjoy one of the best speakeasies Vienna has to offer. No matter what your preference is, you’ll find the perfect bar for you in Vienna.

Here’s a list of the best bars in Vienna!

6 Best Bars in Vienna

1. ONYX

Talk about views for days at the first bar on my list. At ONYX, the first thing you’ll notice is their stunning large glass windows. Sip on your tasty cocktail while enjoying the panoramic view of St. Stephen’s Cathedral—one of Vienna’s most popular sites.

Not just a bar, but a cafe and club too, depending on the time of day, ONYX is one of the best bars in Vienna. Feel sophisticated as you chat with friends in this beautifully designed space.

During the daytime, you can sip on cappuccinos and lattes, sometimes with spiced rum to warm you up! In the evenings, this place knows how to get the party started. With a long list of cocktails and beers, as well as delicious bar snacks, ONYX is flooded with trendy young Viennese people.

Cocktails average about 16 euros making this a steal for the quality of drinks and the absolute A1 location.

2. D-Bar at the Ritz Carlton

Live the first-class life at the next bar on our list. While it may be a bit more pricey than some of the others, it’s worth it for the once-in-a-lifetime experience. D-Bar is located in the Ritz Carlton hotel which boasts an incredible view of the city.

For all my wanderlust readers like myself, their passport-themed cocktail menu is to die for. Order a drink from any country on their list and be transported there through your taste buds. I ordered the Singapore Sling which was incredibly refreshing and tasted like an actual vacation.

Their attention to detail is on the next level, this bar creates its own in-house ice for all of its cocktails. You’ll find zero clouds or impurities in your drink, making it as beautiful as tasty—and trust me, they’re tasty!

3. Das LOFT Bar

The best Austrian and French wines await you at Das LOFT. Located on the 18th floor of SO/ Vienna, this Michelin-rated restaurant and bar will give you some of the most extraordinary views in all of Vienna.

Although it’s Michelin-rated and looks very upscale, this was one of my favorite nights out as the fanciful Viennese culture is left at the door. The bartenders are very friendly and make you feel like one of the locals in no time.

Their wine list is small and precise, with only the best of both Austrian and French wines. Even though I live in Napa, I’m not a wine connoisseur by any means. But the bartender was more than happy to explain each wine in detail and make a suggestion based on my taste.

Be sure to order one of their small plates to share as you enjoy the stunning views of Vienna by night.

4. Loos American Bar

Named after the famous architect Adolf Loos, Loos American Bar is one of the coolest places in Vienna. I love going to new countries to discover architecture and design, so this bar was an absolute dream.

This bar has become legendary in Vienna—and for good reason. From the moment you step inside, you feel like you’re in another world. The chandeliers, dark wood paneling, and low lighting make you feel as though you’ve been transported to a Gatsby party.

Very minimalistic in design and much smaller than most of the bars around the city, Loos American Bar is one of the most unique places to grab a drink. The bartenders make some impressive cocktails and the bar is busy almost every night of the week.

You may not find food here, but you’ll find a vibe like no other. This is one of those places where it feels like everyone knows each other, and you’ll quickly become friends with the person next to you.

Not the best views in the city like some of the other bars on my list, but the atmosphere is to die for.

5. Tür 7

The experience of Tür 7 starts before you even reach this hidden masterpiece. You enter through a small door on a busy street with just a subtle “7” above it—we love a hidden speakeasy!

Your traditional speakeasy-themed bar awaits you on the other side of that door. Follow a long, brick hallway that’ll lead you to a small lounge area where you can enjoy some live music before heading downstairs for drinks.

Don’t be as surprised as I was when they don’t bring you a menu. At Tür 7, everything is hand-crafted. You’ll be greeted by your server and they’ll ask you what kind of flavors you’re in the mood for. From there, they’ll make a custom drink just for you.

This feels so special and unique. Plus, my drink tasted incredible.

Discover mixology on a whole new level. The bartenders are artists and their cocktails reflect that which is why it’s one of the best bars in Vienna.

You’ll pay 20 euros per cocktail which seems like a lot, but with the experience and custom-designed cocktails at your fingertips, it’s well worth the price.

6. Le Bar

Our list ends off with the most upscale cocktail bar in Vienna—Le Bar. If you’re looking to feel like royalty, look no further than this bar located inside the five-star Hotel Sans Souci Wien. With its luxurious seating and sparkling chandeliers, it’ll be easy for you to relax and enjoy your evening.

Known as a champagne bar, they have an impressive list of champagnes and sparkling wines for you to choose from. Now, I’m not the biggest champagne drinker on a regular basis but their champagne cocktails are something special.

I enjoyed a French 75 which is a mix of champagne, gin, and lemon juice…and it was delightful! They also have a very extensive menu with plenty of options to satisfy your taste buds if you aren’t feeling like Champagne.

Le Bar is the type of place where you dress to impress, so make sure you’re looking like your fine-ass self before heading here. Strap up your heels, put on your best dress, and enjoy a night of luxury at Le Bar.
