Two Fast Birthday Party Theme Ideas for Your Little Speed Racer

The TWO fast birthday party theme was made for a kid like Roman—he really is too fast!

I can’t believe my baby is two! He has been moving at full speed since the moment he figured out how to walk, and his greatest loves in life are running wild and cars. He says “vroom vroom” and loves to point out the color of a car passing outside. The theme basically chose itself.

We kept his birthday party small with close friends and family at our house, but you know I love party details and a good theme! It just helps give you ideas and a direction for everything. The invites, the decor, the food, what the birthday boy wears, what Omied and I wore, etc. When it all comes together like that, it feels like an actual event, not just “we put balloons out.” Here’s everything I did for Roman’s Two Fast 2nd birthday, with links to shop it all.

The Invitations

I made the Two Fast birthday party invitations in Canva, and they were so fun to put together. I’m linking the template here so you can use it for your own little speed racer—just swap in the name, date, and party info and you’re done. Having the invite set the vibe makes the whole party feel intentional before a single balloon is blown up!

Everything You Need for the Two Fast Birthday Party Theme

The Decor

Banner and Balloon Arch

I set up a banner and balloon arch because I physically cannot throw a party without a photo moment. We put Roman’s ride-along Lambo from Rebel in front of the banner as part of the photo moment and the kids had a blast sitting in it. When it came time for the birthday cake moment, Roman wanted to sit in the Lambo and we were like yes, absolutely, let’s do it. So epic lol.

I also scattered Racing Print Mylar Balloons from Oriental Trading everywhere including as part of the balloon arch, in the Lambo, and strewn about the backyard—SO cute!

For the checkered flag details, I ordered from Flags for Good, which has the most adorable race-themed products. I hung up the Welcome Race Fans Checkered Flag Bunting in the backyard, and hung the large Welcome Race Fans Flag on the front door. The Checkered Hand Flags lined the driveway as a welcome moment and were such a fun touch.

Roman’s Outfits

Miles the Label provided Roman’s outfits for his birthday, and he had three looks. Three. This is the correct number of outfits for a birthday party when your mommy is a fashion blogger lol.

He started in the Dark Grey Checkerboard Shirt and Shorts set for the main party—so cute and perfectly on theme. When we blew up the inflatable water park, he switched into his Turquoise Checkerboard Swim Trunks and Turquoise Ribbed Rashguard.

And then—because he is two and got food on his first outfit approximately three minutes after we put it on him—he changed into the Grand Prix On Off-White Short Set for the cake moment. I loved the quality and style of all the pieces!

Mom and Dad’s Looks

I wore the Lightning Speed Cars Graphic Tee from Fashion Nova with my absolute new fav structured Frame denim shorts (code WTFAB15 gets you 15% off Frame).

Omied wore the Checkered Flag Logo Tee from Flags for Good, which fit the party aesthetic so well. You don’t have to go full-on family matchy-matchy (unless you want to), but I love dressing in theme!

The Food Table

For the food table, the Celebrate It race car collection at Michaels did all the heavy lifting. I used the Race Cars Beverage Napkins, the 9″ Black & White Checker Dinner Plates, the 9″ Red Car-Shaped Plates, and the 7″ Black & White Checkered Snack Plates. The Black & White Checkered Ribbon was a cute and easy touch that I tied around mason jars for plastic forks and flower vases, and the Racing Icon Candles from the same line went right on the birthday cake.

The Race Car Fuel Can Popcorn Boxes from Oriental Trading were such a hit. They look like actual little fuel canisters, and every single kid wanted to carry theirs around. I used them for popcorn and for the kids’ goodie bags, and they were adorable on the table.

For drinks, the Good2Grow Apple Juice with Hot Wheels truck toppers were so perfect for the theme. The toppers are little collectible characters, and the kids were obsessed, carefully selecting which character they wanted.

The Cake

I am a full Baskin-Robbins ice cream cake convert and I will not be taking questions. I’ve truly been blown away by how good these are—reasonably priced, nostalgic in the best way, and genuinely delicious. I found a Mario Kart-themed design that was such a natural fit for a Two Fast party, and we did cookies and cream ice cream with Funfetti cake.

I topped it with the Racing Icon Candles from Michaels, which were so cute. Highly recommend, Baskin-Robbins was a 10/10.

We gathered around and sang happy birthday, and Roman leaned in and gave the tiniest, most determined little puff of air, somehow blowing the candle out. He signed “more” and then he looked up at me and said he was “so happeh.” My heart just about burst into a million pieces.

Activities and Goodie Bags

This inflatable water park that I got an Amazon was the move, and will be all summer long. Roman was fully in his element out there and all the kids absolutely lost their minds over it. It’s super easy to set up, inflates in a minute, and you attach a hose and you’re good to go!

We also had the Race Car Piñata from Oriental Trading, which the kids absolutely loved. The Racing Temporary Tattoos were a big hit with the older kids—they were obsessed.

For goodie bags, I packed everything into the paper fuel boxes: the Wooden Race Car Model Kit by Creatology from Michaels, the Mini Race Car Bubble Bottles, the Race Car Pull-Back Toys, and extra candy from the piñata. I finished each bag with the Thanks for Racing Gift Tags from the Celebrate It collection. Easy, cute, and totally on theme.

That’s everything that went into Roman’s Two Fast birthday party! It was honestly such a fun theme to pull together, and seeing him run around with his little friends saying “vroom vroom” the whole time made every single detail worth it.
