Shopping is one of my forms of self-care, and there’s nothing better than coming home to a new delivery of clothes, so I’m sharing this Lulus review if you’ve been curious about trying the brand!
It can be hard to know which online retailers are reputable and I’ve learned through a lot of trial and error that not all of them can be trusted.

What is Lulus?
The company has been around for a while since its first store opened in 1996 in California.
Lulus had a few brick-and-mortar stores but decided to go strictly online in 2008—it’s kind of crazy to think about since online shopping wasn’t that popular back in the day.
Luckily, the bold move paid off!
Lulus now ships their products all over the world so the brand is a great option for trendy clothes no matter where you live.
The brand’s mission is to provide luxurious yet affordable women’s clothes that look and feel way more expensive than they cost.
Regardless of your style, Lulus has plenty of options for any piece of clothing or outfit you’re on the hunt for.
There is a physical Lulus outlet store in Chico, California that you can visit if you find yourself in town—you’re sure to snag some great deals.
Is Lulus Legit?
Yes, Lulus is a 100% legitimate company!
Lulus has been in the fashion game for over 20 years and has built up a solid reputation for selling quality women’s clothing.
In recent years they’ve also been featured in popular magazines like Elle, Vogue, and Glamour which speaks to their legitimacy.
Lulus offers free shipping on orders over $50 in the US, with a few exclusions like Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico.
The processing time for Lulus orders is usually two to three days and customers can expect their order to arrive within five to seven business days.
If you live outside of the US don’t worry—you can still order from Lulus, but you’ll have to pay for shipping.
TBH, this is an area I think that Lulus can enhance because their return and exchange policy seems a bit strict compared to other online retailers.
The company does accept returns within 30 days of purchase, as long as the items are unworn and in their original condition with the tags attached.
If you want to make a return, you need to postmark the shipment within 10 days to qualify for free shipping.
This timeline is pretty tight considering we all know how busy life can get between work, family, and more.
If you return your item after 10 days but within 30 there’s a $6.50 shipping and restocking fee, which is kind of a bummer.
Lulus is one of the few brands to offer a pretty inclusive range of sizes on their website, so you can shop confidently knowing they’ll have something that will fit you.
I appreciate the fact Lulus offers most items in sizes XXS to 3X—most of their clothing items run true to size in my experience.
Before you make a purchase from Lulus I recommend checking out customer reviews to see what people have to say when it comes to fit for that specific piece.
I have to say, I’m impressed with the quality of Lulus clothing considering the brand’s affordable price point.
For a self-proclaimed “affordable luxury” store, I was honestly expecting garments that felt kind of cheap and flimsy.
While I wouldn’t necessarily say the pieces feel luxurious, I was pleasantly surprised to find that all the clothing I received felt and looked good quality.
Even after multiple wears and washes my Lulus garments have maintained the same quality look and feel since the day I unboxed them.

One of the things I love most about Lulus is the brand’s affordable pricing.
The company also has frequent sales where you can score an even better deal on bestselling items.
If you sign up for the Lulus email list you’ll get a notification whenever there’s an upcoming sale so you can get the best price possible.
It’s no secret that a lot of fashion brands have unsustainable and downright unethical business practices, and I always try to be conscious of what companies I support.
Unfortunately, Lulus isn’t very transparent about the production process for their clothing items, so it’s hard to say with certainty what kind of standards they uphold for their factories and employees.
Lulus is not vegan or cruelty-free as they use leather and wool in many of their clothing items, and the website doesn’t provide information on how these animal materials were sourced.
Lulus doesn’t offer any clothing recycling programs either—this is something I’d love to see the company implement soon since so many comparable retailers offer these kinds of sustainable initiatives.
Is Lulus Considered Fast Fashion?
No, Lulu’s is not considered a fast fashion retailer for a few reasons.
Lulu garments are made from quality fabrics and constructed with care so they won’t fall apart after just a handful of uses.
You can wear your favorite Lulus clothing items for a long time as long as you take proper care of them by following the care tag instructions.
Another reason Lulus isn’t considered fast fashion is they use unique designs so you won’t come across hundreds of people wearing the same thing as you.
I would consider most Lulus brand items to be priced mid-range and not suspiciously cheap like other retailers (read my Cupshe review here). Because if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Lulus does a good job of offering fashionable clothing that won’t go out of style the second you receive it in the mail, so you don’t have to worry about constantly refreshing your wardrobe.
All in all, I’d say Lulus offers quality pieces that you can style over and over again for years to come.
If you need to contact Lulus for any reason, their customer service team is always available.
You can get in touch with the Lulus team by calling, texting, emailing, or live chatting on their website.
Unlike a lot of retailers that make it difficult to get in touch with a real person, Lulus keeps things simple which I appreciate.

One of the perks of Lulus is it has a loyalty program called Love Rewards.
Every time you shop on the Lulus website, you’ll earn points that will add up over time and can be redeemed for discounts on future purchases.
Plus, Lulus often offers exclusive discounts for their rewards members and you’ll get notified whenever they have sales or new arrivals.
If you don’t feel like signing up for the Love Rewards program but still want to get the best deals possible, the brand also offers discounts for students, healthcare workers, and military members.
How Does Lulus Compare to Shein?
These days it seems like the great debate in the fashion world is whether to bite the bullet and invest in expensive, timeless pieces, or stay on-trend with niche items that you’ll probably only wear once or twice.
A lot of customers find Lulus and Shein to be fairly comparable clothing stores, but there are some important things to keep in mind when deciding between the shops.
Shein is one of the most popular fast fashion retailers at the moment, and while they offer a range of items at very low prices, the quality isn’t great and the sizing is inconsistent at best.
On the other hand, Lulus is known for its quality pieces offered at slightly higher but still affordable prices.
You can expect items from Lulus to last longer and fit better, but you won’t get as much variety in terms of style options since Shein offers hundreds of unique pieces each season.
Unfortunately, this means Shein often compromises on quality to try and encourage customers to keep coming back when their garments inevitably tear or get worn out.
In terms of shipping, Shein offers free standard shipping within the US for orders over $29, which is a better policy than Lulus.
When it comes to returns and exchanges, Shein has a 35-day window for returns, and the first return from each shipment is free (if you need to return additional items you’ll pay $8 shipping).
Choosing between Shein and Lulus ultimately comes down to personal preference and budget.
Shein is great for those who want a lot of variety and low prices, while Lulus is ideal if you’re willing to spend a little bit more for quality clothes that will last for years.
Personally, I will always choose Lulus over Shein for their quality.
Pros and Cons of Shopping at Lulus
Quality – Lulus brand clothes are made with care from quality materials that look and feel amazing. The company’s clothes will last a good while as long as you take proper care of them.
Sizes – I’m impressed with the range of sizes available on the Lulus website. They do a great job at making sure women of all shapes and sizes can shop for their products with confidence.
Pricing – The pricing at Lulus is hard to beat considering the impressive quality items you’ll get for affordable luxury prices. The Love Rewards program and all the discounts available through Lulus are the cherries on top since you know you’re getting an unbeatable price.
Clothing selection – Compared to other online retailers, some customers might find the selection at Lulus a bit limited. I’ve never had an issue finding exactly what I’m looking for, but they don’t offer as many seasonal trend items as Shein and other fast fashion stores.
Sustainability – This is one area Lulus could use some improvement in since they’re not open about the sustainability and ethical standards they uphold as a company. I’d love to see Lulus take a firm stance on promoting sustainability and ethically-produced clothing.
