There are so many things about our new home that I’m excited about, and the backyard situation is definitely at the top of that list! Especially after living in the city for almost a decade, having our own outdoor space has been such a game-changer.
Even more so with the panny and having some long periods of staying home more—being able to enjoy outdoor time in our backyard has been so clutch.
While we’re hoping to completely re-do the landscaping in the backyard this year, I thought I’d share a little progress update on how things are coming together in the backyard!
We’ve had so much fun picking out outdoor furniture and accent pieces, and I’ve loved sharing my finds with you. My egg chairs blog post absolutely blew up and became one of my top pieces of content!
I’d been eyeing the Target egg chair since the moment we bought our house, and had to make it mine! We picked out the rest of the furniture with that piece in mind so the style is rattan/linen and neutral.
Article’s Lucara Sofa and matching chairs set was exactly what we were looking for.
CB2’s terrazzo coffee table and side table completed the vibe.
As I mentioned, we’re hoping to do some major landscaping and renovating in the backyard this year. One of the main things I’m really excited to update is the tile—the terracotta tile is just not it.
Until then, we got this gorgeous outdoor rug from Annie Selke to set the scene. We’re in love with it!
One question I’ve gotten in my DMs about the outdoor rug situation is what do we do when it rains. During the rainy months (which in California isn’t many), we roll up the rug and store it in our wine cave.
We also picked out several accent pieces from Annie Selke that completed the outdoor vibe and made everything feel warm and inviting, including this throw and striped pillows. This textured ivory pillow looks amazing on the egg chair!

We’ve also been cooking up a storm in the backyard. You can see our Ooni Pizza Oven in the above pic, and Omied’s homemade pizzas have been epic. You can read my full Ooni Pizza Pro review here.
Since then we’ve also added a Weber Grill and a Traeger smoker to our outdoor cooking space!
