Travel-Themed Nursery Reveal

I’m so excited to share our travel-themed nursery! When we were thinking about a theme for the nursery room, travel and adventure just seemed like such a great fit.

We had so much fun putting together all the details for baby Roman’s room. We started working on it probably around the midway point of my pregnancy, and we did the finishing touches like the little bookshelf and some decor after Roman was born.

Our co-ed baby shower was also travel-themed, and I was able to use some of the baby shower decor in the nursery as well, which was great!

As someone DMed me when I shared a sneak peek of the wallpaper, “It’s giving my mommy is a travel blogger,” lol.

Surprisingly, I didn’t see a ton of inspiration online for a travel-themed nursery. But I knew that I wanted to do a fun statement wall with wallpaper and I thought a map of the world would be really cute. I found this one from Wallmur, and I asked them to do some design tweaks to it like removing the graph lines (I thought it made the design look too busy) and making the ocean more like a water color design. They do customization free of charge and it was nice to be able to change the design to get it exactly how we wanted.

When we picked this design, I imagined pointing to the different animals and teaching their sounds to Roman, and telling him where his mommy and daddy have traveled to together. He already loves looking at the pictures and it’s so cute.

Once we decided on the wallpaper, everything else came together. Thanks to the ocean and landmarks, the color palette for the room ended up being baby blue and neutral furniture.

The crib converts to a toddler bed, so we’ll get years of use out of it.

We went with the 4-drawer dresser, which fits perfectly in the room and is large enough to use as a changing table. They have a changing table add-on, but I put the Keekaroo changing pad on top.

The Glider Plus chair from Nurture& is top-notch. It’s so comfortable and not only does it recline, you can adjust the lumbar support, head rest, and foot rest. It even has a USB charger.

We also sprung for the Snoo during Black Friday last year, and we move it into our room some nights and back into the nursery on nights when we have our night nanny here.

It definitely helped soothe him during the first couple months, but after that all of a sudden Roman started getting freaked out when the Snoo would kick up to Level 2, so now we just keep it at baseline and Level 1.

Travel-Themed Nursery Accessories & Decor

For our baby monitor we have the Nanit Pro. It’s definitely convenient to have the video feed on both of our phones, and I like the sleek design.

The paper hot air balloons are from this etsy shop and we also used them as decor for the baby shower. The prints are actually paint by numbers that Omied and I did during relaxing date nights at home, from Pink Picasso Kits.

I’m obsessed with this beautiful baby mobile, with its little hot air balloons, stars, and mountains. I later read that mobiles shouldn’t be pastel colors, because bright contrasts are easier for baby to see, so this one is more for me and my enjoyment lol. A bright mobile just wouldn’t fit the aesthetic. And now as I’m starting to read up on sleep training, I’m learning that a mobile isn’t even recommended over the crib because it can be distracting and your baby needs to learn that the crib is for sleeping. So the mobile might get moved from the crib and used as a beautiful decor piece somewhere else in the nursery.

The “Oh, the places you’ll go” globe is from this Etsy shop, and I have to call out the “Where will you go?” book because my sister hand-painted it and came up with the sweetest writings about exploring the world, with the help of her husband. We’ll treasure it forever!

Bookshelf / Humidifier / Hot air balloon / Sonogram painting

This little bookshelf fit perfectly in this small space by the door. I already had a Canopy humidifier in our bedroom and got another one for the nursery in jade green. I love it because you can put the pieces in the dishwasher to clean it and make sure it doesn’t grow mold.

The hot air balloon was a centerpiece at our shower and looks so sweet with a little teddy bear in it on the bookshelf.

Last but certainly not least, because it’s one of my favorite pieces, is the sonogram art from our 20-week ultrasound created by Kristina Heredia Art. It’s such a unique and special idea!
