An Epic First Family Vacay at Vista Encantada Resort: In-Depth Review

Share this post or pin it for later!

Last month, Roman got his first passport stamp—we took him to Cabo and stayed a week at the beautiful Vista Encantada Resort! It was our first big family vacation and it went so well. He took the flight like a champ and was so chill and happy in a totally new environment all week.

As Roman got out of the newborn stage and better at sleeping (but still not sleeping through the night yet, bleghh), Omied and I started to feel like we were ready for a trip and a change of scenery. We started researching ideas for ideal destinations for a chill family vacation with a baby, and Cabo was soon at the top of our list.

It’s a short flight from SFO, and we knew if we found the right resort, we could spend most of our time relaxing there, with a few excursions sprinkled in.

Enter Vista Encantada.

Traveling with a baby is obviously very different than how we’ve traveled in the past, and Vista Encantada ended up being the perfect blend of luxury and a family-friendly setup/amenities.

As a guest of Vista Encantada, you also have access to their sister property right next door, Hacienda Encantada (it doesn’t work the other way around, though—guests at Hacienda Encantada don’t have access to Vista Encantada). This includes use of their pools, restaurants, and other fun amenities like tennis courts.

Hacienda Encantada is just on the other side of the lobby, so it’s easy to walk to. And if that’s not enough, you also have access to a third sister property, Marina Fiesta, in Downtown Cabo. We felt like we had plenty to do/explore at Vista Encantada and Hacienda Encantada and never ended up making it to Marina Fiesta, but it looks super cute.

Let’s get into more details from our stay at Vista Encantada…

Accommodations

We stayed in a two-bedroom villa, and it was fabulous. We opted for a two-bedroom so that our wonderful nanny could join us for half of the trip. The rooms were so spacious—the master bathroom was huge and there was a second large bathroom connected to the second room as well. There’s also a large living room and a small kitchenette (while the website says it’s a fully equipped kitchen, there is no dishwasher).

The most epic part of the room was the ginormous private balcony that offered an uninterrupted view of the ocean, making it the perfect spot for morning coffee or a sunset cocktail. There was even a plunge pool and a grill out there.

We were pretty much in heaven in this room, and it was such a great setup for our party. The hotel also provided a crib for Roman.

All-Inclusive

We did the all-inclusive package, and it was awesome! I was a little apprehensive about it—in the past I have not had good experiences with all-inclusive resorts. The food has been mediocre at best, barely edible at worst. And the drinks were also meh. Clearly, I just wasn’t staying at the right all-inclusives!

The food and drinks at Vista Encantada were fantastic. After diving into their five-star reviews on Tripadvsior, I was hopeful that the food would be good, but Omied and I were both pleasantly surprised with just how good it was!

Between Vista Encantada and Hacienda Encantada, there are about a dozen different restaurant options to choose from! You can check them all out here, and I’m also including some call-outs of our favorite dining experiences below.

Breakfast at Las Marias and Mestizo

We looked forward to breakfast every morning! Las Marias had a delicious breakfast buffet, omelet station, and gorgeous views. They also make great bloody Marias and carajillos!

Mestizo is adults-only, so we were able to enjoy breakfasts here once our nanny arrived for the second half of our trip. They also have a breakfast buffet and omelet station, but I highly recommend asking for chilaquiles and huevos rancheros. They were chef’s kiss!

Sushi at La Pergola Pool Bar

We had a delicious poolside lunch complete with poke bowls, sashimi, and sushi rolls!

El Patio Pool Bar

The food at El Patio was some of my favorite lunch. Their fish tacos were great, and we were blown away by the shrimp tacos Gobernador style—with a melted, crispy cheese layer in it. Ugh, I’m drooling just thinking about them!

Views from Los Riscos

The views from Los Riscos were so stunning! Even though the sunset was a bit early while we were in Cabo during the month of November, we made reservations here one night to catch the sunset and enjoy leisurely drinks before dinner. It was a great way to spend the evening!

El Eden

Both the food and the cocktails at El Eden were some of our favs during our stay! It’s their tequila and taco bar and just a fun, casual spot for dinner.

Highly recommend their guava or passion fruit mezcalitas. And this mocaljete dish was insane! The steak and shrimp were doused with mezcal that was on fire so they were then covered with molten cheese, and they made for such delicious tacos.

Fine Dining at Mestizo

Mestizo is the adults-only restaurant on the roof of Vista Encantada, and we enjoyed dinner here a few nights. They had great cocktails, and I really enjoyed my sea bass dish.

Pools

Besides the food and drink, my other main question when checking out a resort like this is: What’s the pool situation like? And my friends, you won’t be disappointed at Vista Encantada.

The pool on the rooftop is absolutely beautiful! The ocean views are epic. There’s a large pool with plenty of comfortable seating options, including cabanas. I LOVE when a hotel has cabanas available at no extra charge. It feels so luxurious, and it’s such a nice way to spend an afternoon lounging, enjoying lunch, and taking a dip in the pool.

There’s also a smaller heated pool facing the other direction, and that was a great spot to catch the sunset. We did a couple night swims here as well which was super fun.

And since guests at Vista Encantada also get access to Hacienda Encantada’s property, we basically pool-hopped and checked out all of them! There’s one pool with tons of seating and a swim-up bar and an adults-only pool with another swim-up bar.

We scored a stunning cabana with insane ocean views. These are normally for owners/members only, but if you ask nicely and they have an open seat, they might let you grab a seat here too!

I absolutely hate it when you’re at a resort, and you feel like you have to battle it out for a seat at the pool. I also can’t stand when people get up early and “reserve” spots at the pool by leaving their stuff there for hours. So I loved that there was plenty of pool seating at Vista Encantada. Literally every time we went to a pool, it was easy to find a comfortable spot. Every resort should be like this!

Milagro Spa

The spa is also not to be missed! The pool has hydrotherapy and beautiful views, and you can relax here after your treatment. Omied and I got wonderful massages here and then used the steam rooms and hot tubs and relaxed in this epic pool. We felt like we were in Game of Thrones because it looked like it would be Cersei Lannister’s private bathhouse.

Amenities and Activities

Vista Encantada offers so many amenities and activities—we felt so taken care of, and there were so many fun things to do at the resort that we easily could have stayed longer than a week. A fe highlights…

  • Lots of free activities like a putting green, volleyball, bike rentals, pickle ball, and tennis
  • A Kid’s Club and splash pad area
  • Horseback riding with beautiful views right from the property

  • Temazcal Experience onsite where you can try this traditional sweat lodge ritual
  • A spacious gym with tons of equipment and ocean views from the treadmills
  • Epic excursions—the concierges were super helpful and booked a turtle release experience and a whale shark dive for us
  • A Tequila Museum where you can taste your way through an impressive lineup of tequilas, Mezcales, Sotol, and Bacanora
  • Baby-sitting services for when you want an evening without the kids
  • Shuttles to Downtown so you can explore the area without having to drive or worry about parking

We had such an awesome time at Vista Encantada Resort! It was our first time in Cabo but we’re already dreaming of coming back. If you’re looking for a resort in Cabo, I can’t recommend Vista Encantada enough!

A huge thank you to Vista Encantada for hosting us!
