While we were in Maui last month, Omied and I spent a day relaxing at the Hyatt Regency Maui, and it was just what the doctor ordered!
When I was a kid, the Hyatt Regency Maui was where my family would stay for our vacations. My dad used to travel a lot for work and always stayed with Hyatt, so Hyatt resorts were always our go-to, and Hawaii was our number one family vacay spot.
I have so many nostalgic memories of coming here with my family, like running up and down the stairs to go on the water slide over and over again, and ordering coconut smoothies at the pool (I still prefer them over any alcoholic drink—soo good!).
I remember seeing couples on romantic getaways or honeymooning and staying at the Hyatt in Maui. My 12-year-old self thought, “Some day I want to come back here with my boyfriend!”
Call it a full circle moment, because spending the day here with Omied was the dream. Here’s how we spent our day…
First up, we had a couple’s massage at the Hyatt’s spa. It was absolutely heavenly.
The view from the relaxation room where we were led after our treatments was so beautiful, that it looked fake. We sat there for a while just soaking it all in and listening to the sound of waves crashing and palm trees swaying in the wind.
We then made our way over to the pool (so many fun memories with my sister here!) and settled into an ocean view cabana—such a treat!
We ordered the poke nachos and the bulgogi beef for lunch, and both were delicious.
Time for some shave ice! Ululani’s is known for having the best shave ice on the island, and they have a stand right next to the Hyatt’s pool.
This is a newer addition at the Hyatt but man, I wish it was there when we were kids. My sister and I would have gone bananas, charging shave ice to the room every day lol.
After spending the day lounging in our cabana, sipping tropical drinks, and going down the water slide a few times (I’m still a kid at heart), we made our way over to Japengo for dinner.
Japengo’s menu features Asian cuisine with some local island flavors. They have a mix of hot steak and seafood dishes, as well as an awesome sushi menu.
Plus, the sunset views overlooking the ocean and the Hyatt’s waterfalls are awesome!
Everything we had was delicious, but I think their sushi was my favorite. We saved room for dessert and enjoyed their Ka’anapali pie, which is not to be missed! Soo decadent.
We had such an amazing day at the Hyatt and I’m already dreaming of coming back!
Thank you to the Hyatt Regency Maui for hosting us for such a fun day!
