We recently had an awesome weekend getaway at Montage Healdsburg, and I’m still dreaming about it! When Omied and I were planning a little trip with Roman, we were looking for a place that offered luxury while also being family-friendly, which is hard to find IMO!
Oftentimes, high-end, luxury resorts are adults-only, but we love being able to travel with Roman. We can’t always leave him with grandma and grandpa, and he’s such a chill baby, we love bringing him with along!
Montage Healdsburg absolutely delivered on everything we were looking for.
Set in the heart of Sonoma wine country, this resort feels like a peaceful escape tucked into nature, with all the elevated touches you’d expect from a luxury stay. But what truly blew us away was how seamlessly it catered to families without sacrificing any of the beauty or refinement you’d want for a wine country retreat.
From the moment we pulled into the property’s driveway, we were greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality. The check-in process was smooth and personal, complete with a welcome glass of wine.
The property itself is stunning—vineyard views, oak-dotted hills, and modern architecture that blends right into the natural surroundings. It immediately set the tone for a peaceful, restorative stay.
Our Room: Mountain Views and Sweet Touches for Roman
We had a one-bedroom suite and it was absolutely stunning! It was so spacious and perfect for our family of three, and I loved that we had a gorgeous deck with a firepit. It allowed us to enjoy the views and relax without even leaving our room while Roman was napping.
Our suite was tucked into the hillside with panoramic views of the mountains, and every detail was thoughtfully curated. The space felt private and serene—perfect for winding down after a day of adventuring with a baby.
Montage went above and beyond for Roman. Not only did they have a crib already set up, but they also included the cutest baby robe and slippers (I can’t handle how adorable he looked in them), baby bath products, and even an Uppababy stroller for us to use throughout our stay. It made things so much easier—and so much more comfortable for Roman too.
Family-Friendly Meets Five-Star
One of my favorite parts of the stay was how well Montage balanced luxury with true family-friendliness. Roman loved running around the wide open spaces, from the garden paths to little nature trails we wandered together. He was absolutely mesmerized by the birds, trees, and people watching on the patio at Scout Field Bar. And by people watching, I mean flirting with all the women lol he has no shame!
Everywhere we went, we felt totally welcomed and comfortable. Our server at Scout Field Bar even gave Roman a little teddy bear to entertain him while we sipped our wine.
While Roman isn’t old enough for this yet, Montage Healdsburg also has a kid’s program called Paintbox, where they can go and do arts and crafts and outdoor activities, while mom and dad get a little relaxation time!
Dining: Elevated Yet Kid-Friendly
We had dinner at Hazel Hill, the resort’s signature restaurant, and the entire experience was lovely. The setting is gorgeous—think warm lighting and a cozy-chic ambiance. We had a delicious dinner and an incredible brunch here! Don’t miss that pain au chocolat, it is seriously heavenly!
We also took advantage of in-room dining for a more relaxed breakfast one morning when we wanted to take it easy. Everything was delicious and delivered with the same warm, attentive service. It was so nice to have a leisurely breakfast on our balcony while Roman napped in the room.
Pool Time & Spa Bliss
The resort has two pools—one for families and one adults-only. We took Roman to the family pool so he could splash around, which is always so cute and fun.
Omied and I took turns going to Spa Montage so that one of us could get massages and enjoy some hot tub time while the other one was with Roman. It was exactly what we needed—peaceful, restorative, and beautifully designed. My massage was divine, and the whole space felt like a little sanctuary tucked away.
Service That Goes Above and Beyond
The level of service at Montage Healdsburg truly sets it apart. Every single staff member we interacted with was warm, attentive, and went out of their way to make our family feel comfortable and taken care of.
From thoughtful extras like surprise snacks in the room, to giving us cute Montage hats as parting gifts when we checked out, it was those small touches that made the stay feel truly special.
Final Thoughts: Can We Move In?
Montage Healdsburg completely redefined what a luxury family vacation can be. It’s elegant and peaceful with five-star service that never feels stuffy. And most importantly, it gave us space to slow down and make beautiful memories together as a family.
Whether you’re traveling with a baby like we were or older kids, this resort has everything you need for a high-end yet low-stress escape.
We’re already plotting our return and can’t wait to come back someday!
