Cranberry and Orange Sauce

November is around the corner which means Thanksgiving will be here sooner than we know it! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays of the year because there is an endless array of delicious foods that you only get to eat once a year, and this year I’m making this delicious cranberry and orange sauce to put on pretty much everything.

Of course, Thanksgiving turkey is the centerpiece. You can eat the turkey with a side of mashed potatoes, stuffing, this bacon potato casserole, or anything your heart desires! Turkey is so versatile that you can save the leftover turkey and put it in a sandwich or salad that you can eat for the rest of the week.

If you’re like me, you like to add a layer of cranberry sauce with your turkey and stuffing. This year, try experimenting with adding some fresh orange zest by making a cranberry orange sauce. With only three ingredients and one step, this might be one of the easiest recipes you’ll ever make! You’ll love this recipe more than your traditional cranberry sauce recipe. This sauce would also be a great addition to these turkey cranberry pinwheels.

You could also make this recipe any time of the year and pair it with a whole grilled chicken. This recipe calls for Montreal chicken seasoning, but you could also use a substitute for poultry seasoning if you’re in a bind.

Cranberry and Orange Sauce Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

1 12 oz bag of organic fresh cranberries (about 3 cups), rinse thoroughly

2 organic oranges, quartered and remove seeds

3/4 cup of sugar

STEPS:

Place all ingredients in a food processor and pulse to desired consistency.

A FEW RECIPE NOTES:

It is important to buy organic oranges since you’re using the peel and a lot of pesticides get absorbed by the peel.

If you make extra you can easily store in the refrigerator in a glass jar. This should last for about a month.

Add a touch of sugar to balance out any potential bitterness.

To get a stronger orange taste, try adding a splash of orange juice.

If you want to add some spice try adding a cinnamon stick.

If you’re looking for a fancy dish to share with your family and friends with this holiday season, consider making Tournedos Rossini. It’s a French dish that’s sure to impress!
