The Trader Joe’s sweet potato gnocchi is one of my absolute favorite TJ’s finds. It’s just so dang good.

We have it pretty often as a side dish, usually with a protein like chicken or salmon and then with a vegetable.

Recently, I decided to experiment with adding a few other items to TJ’s frozen sweet potato gnocchi to turn it into a one-skillet meal. Let’s just say I’ve been thoroughly enjoying this experiment.

This cozy recipe is quick and easy to follow, making it the perfect meal for those busy weekdays. It takes just one pan and less than 15 minutes to make, and it’s also super tasty!

You can find Trader Joe’s sweet potato gnocchi in the frozen food section, and it truly is one of their gems. Once cooked, the texture becomes super soft, and the butter sauce with sage is so delicious. It also contains a sweetness that goes perfectly with any red or savory sauce. The next time you find yourself at Trader Joe’s, definitely load up your cart with this delicious Italian dish!

What is Gnocchi?

Gnocchi is a traditional Italian dumpling made from a combination of flour, egg, salt, and potato. The ingredients can range based on where they are made, but they’re typically paired with a pasta sauce or soup. There are also variations made with other ingredients like this tofu gnocchi that’s high in protein.

Total Time 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 Pack of Trader Joe’s Sweet Potato Gnocchi
  • 1 Garlic clove (minced)
  • 2 Chicken sausages
  • 1/2 Onion
  • 1 Bell pepper

Instructions

    1. Place a large pan over a medium-heat stove top (the Always Pan is my fav). Add your sausage, minced garlic, onion, bell pepper, and saute until slightly browned. This should take around five minutes. Set aside in a separate bowl.

    2. Add the sweet potato gnocchi to the pan and follow the cooking instructions on the packaging. (Add 2 tablespoons of water and cover for 3 minutes. Then remove the cover, stir, and cook for another 2 - 3 minutes.).

    3. Add the rest of the ingredients that you had set aside back into the pan and mix with the sweet potato gnocchi.

    4. Plate it and enjoy!
