I’ve been on the hunt for the best face exfoliator for mature skin—it’s never too early to care about your skin.
Face exfoliators are honestly scary to try but I’m here to help with that—we all deserve glowing skin. As gross as it sounds, being able to remove dead skin is key to a glowing complexion.
There’s a never-ending list of face exfoliators, but which ones are good? When looking for a skin exfoliator for mature skin, you have to be extra cautious!
Mature skin comes with a decreased amount of elasticity and is thinner, making it more fragile. For these reasons, looking for products with chemicals that aren’t too harsh is key!
Being able to exfoliate mature skin is such an important thing since our skin needs lots of care, especially as we age.
I’ve noticed that now that I’m nearing my mid-30’s, my skin is definitely drier than it used to be and more sensitive. So I have to be careful about which exfoliators I’m using.

7 Best Face Exfoliator for Mature Skin Picks
1. Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel
I’ve been dealing with the tedious problem of having uneven texture. I wouldn’t say I have mature skin but it does feel a bit more sensitive than it used to be.
Stumbling across Dr. Dennis Gross’ AHA/BHA peel pads has been the best thing to happen to me. These pads exfoliate your skin to minimize the appearance of pores, dark spots, and my biggest problem—uneven texture/tone.
This product is a two-step process. You begin by cleansing your skin and applying the step 1 pad until the pad is completely dry.
Wait a couple of minutes, around 2-5, and repeat the process but with the step 2 pad. Once you’re done, follow up with a good serum and moisturizer—this is key!
I use this mostly in the nighttime since your skin becomes extremely sensitive to the sun after using AHA/BHA! Be sure to follow up with a good SPF once going out.
Depending on your skin sensitivity, I recommend alternating the days you use it. For a while, I tried using it daily but my skin was not having it.
Overall, I love these pads that work as an exfoliator. I’ve noticed my complexion is getting more even, so that makes me super happy!
These pads have lactic acid which is great for natural cell renewal—it’s basically skin-perfecting for those with mature skin. Along with that the beta-hydroxy acid works for those with acne!
Will you be giving these a try? They just might be my top pick!
2. Kate Somerville Exfolikate
Now don’t get scared when seeing the word intensive on the tube—this product is absolutely amazing.
I’m starting to think this is going to become one of my holy grail products—Kate outdid herself with this one. This product can be used as a mask, exfoliant, cleanser, and peel.
I incorporate this once a week into my skincare routine, typically in the nighttime. You then apply a thin layer of the product onto your face and massage it in for about a minute.
After massaging the product in, I leave it on as a mask for about two minutes or so. I then rinse and follow up with my usual skincare routine.
This has to be one of the best facial exfoliator products I’ve ever used. Any dead skin cells on my face said goodbye along with any dry skin patches I had.
Be aware, the product might tingle a bit but it doesn’t feel too bad, at least on my skin. This is usually something that occurs with exfoliating products though.
3. Positively Radiant Skin Brightening Daily Face Scrub
I wandered the aisles of Target not too long ago and found myself extra attentive to the skincare section. I’ve been on this exfoliator for mature skin hunt for a while and felt like experimenting.
I stumbled over Aveeno’s section and their pretty green packaging got me.
All I can say is, I’m impressed. Some drugstore skincare products don’t work for me since the concentration of certain ingredients is low.
Since this exfoliant is more on the sensitive side, I was able to use it twice a day. Over-exfoliating isn’t always the best since it can cause breakouts or dry patches, and I learned it the hard way.
I went from twice a day to once every other day. My skin is no longer dull and it actually is positively radiant.
What I really liked was that this product was oil-free. Unless it’s a face oil, products with oils added can sometimes break me out.
I was pretty satisfied that I decided to give the Aveeno positively radiant line a try. My local Target had it out of stock, but that didn’t stop me.
My Amazon cart a few hours after might have had the Aveeno skin care line ready for checkout.

4. Bright Reveal Brightening Daily Peel Pads
Aveeno was the one to convince me in giving drugstore products a chance—I don’t regret it one bit.
The L’Oreal Paris skincare revitalift line was one I always saw at the drugstore but never felt inclined to get.
I came across these L’Oreal revitalift bright reveal pads after reading that glycolic acid is good for those with mature skin. I know how powerful glycolic acid can be for exfoliating, and I’d read that glycolic acid was perfect for reducing signs of aging including those pesky fine lines.
After a couple of uses with this product, I did see a bit of a difference but nothing too crazy. Regardless, I think it’s worth giving it a shot!
From the uses I got with this product, it seemed to exfoliate yet tone my skin at the same time. I even ditched my usual toner for a few days to see if there was any crazy difference.
Like all exfoliating products, it is super important to follow up with some form of moisturizer and sunscreen!
Exfoliated skin is super sensitive to the sun. Be sure to keep the sunscreen at hand!
5. Bright Reveal Brightening Daily Scrub Cleanser
I decided to give L’Oreal another shot so I impulsively threw their cleanser into my shopping basket. My skin was looking a bit dull and I had nothing to lose.
This product on its own made me want to give the whole collection a shot, it impressed me more than the pads!
The foaminess of the cleanser was my favorite and it didn’t feel as harsh on my skin. My skin felt very smooth after using this— definitely worth giving this product a shot!
The bright reveal facial cleanser had my back—I’m so glad I gave it a try.
For less than $10, I really enjoyed this product. My skin tone improved during the weeks I tried this product—I was raving about it to my friends.
Go out and give this product line a try!
6. The Ordinary Glycolic Acid
So I am on TikTok and I’m there for all the fun lifestyle content and especially for the skincare content. I’ll admit, I’m always on #skincaretok.
The Ordinary gained a lot of popularity on TikTok, there wasn’t a day when I didn’t see it! If it wasn’t their peel that looks like blood, it was this 7% glycolic acid.
I was seeing this product being used for almost anything! I’ve seen it used as a facial toner, an underarm toner to replace deodorant, and even as a product for your scalp to tackle dandruff.
Everyone was saying it was able to remove dead cells and perfect for all skin types. The claims for it were never-ending and my skin was getting called to it.
I was intrigued and for $10 I couldn’t say no. I used it as a toner and loved it.
The toner is huge and a little goes a long way—it’ll last you a while. My skin tone looked more radiant, and the dullness I was tackling was completely gone.
The mild exfoliation it gave was the perfect amount for my skin as it wasn’t too harsh but worked well enough to make a difference.
The Ordinary claims that this product tackles signs of aging—true. It’s perfect for those with mature skin who don’t want to splurge on a product yet want to see results.

7. Daily Microfoliant
Dermalogica has a cult following for a reason, their products work a little tooo well.
The Dermalogica daily microfoliant is so unique, it’s actually a powder that’s activated with water. While being able to polish your skin, it simultaneously calms it which is perfect for those with sensitive skin.
You pour some of the powder, mix it with a little water and massage your face with soft circular motions. I was able to use this daily because of how gentle it was on my skin—it’s a perfect gentle exfoliating cleanser!
This product also has salicylic acid as one of its active ingredients which is amazing for any pesky breakouts that I tend to get from time to time!
A little goes a long way with this product which is why it’s worth every penny!
