Behind the scenes with Peerspace:
I recently had a super exciting opportunity to shoot a video campaign for Olay, and while I was so stoked to participate in a campaign like this, my first thought and biggest hurdle was, “Where am I going to shoot this??” I know that many What The Fab readers like to see a bit of the behind the scenes, so today I’m sharing a peek behind the curtain from this campaign!
My one bedroom apartment in SF isn’t really ideal for shooting video. While we have decent natural light in our bedroom, we’re pretty limited in terms of space and I wanted the background of this video to be a little more interesting, and a little less of the talking head while sitting on my bed or living room couch vibe. I immediately took to Peerspace, my favorite site for finding venues for events and photo shoots that you can rent out by the hour. When I came across this particular warehouse/loft space (check out more pics of the venue and the listing through my Tastemaker page), I knew it would be perfect for our shoot. I mean first of all, there’s an indoor pool! And I loved the high ceilings, and ample, even natural light that came spilling in. We loved that we were able to move things around however we wanted, and there were a few different settings we used to create some variety in the video. We shot in the seating area in the pool (because, duh. so cool.), the comfy/chic couch area, and the minimalist dining/conference table. Funny enough, when I posted a little behind the scenes Insta Story from this gorgeous warehouse, my best friend DMed me and told me that she recently shot a music video here! So cool to see how other creatives are using this gorgeous space.
If you’d like to see the final video I shot for Olay, you can check it out here. It’s all about how I started my blog and includes a bit of advice for those who are looking to dive into a creative project, but aren’t sure where to start (hint: dive right in and be fearless!). Coming soon (probably to my Insta Stories), I’ll share a bloopers video, because that stuff is hilarious. Shooting video is so much harder than photos, you guys! ??♀️
