Today we’re getting into one of my favorite Rodan + Fields pairings: their REDEFINE Intensive Renewing Serum + Active Hydration Serum.
Around the time that I turned 30, I noticed that my skin was less oily than it had been from my teens and through my 20’s. My skin definitely felt drier, and I was starting to notice some fine lines forming.
To help combat those skin concerns, I started looking into different retinol products I could try (to help with the fine lines) and serums that could help boost my skin’s hydration. Rodan + Fields REDEFINE Intensive Renewing Serum paired with their Active Hydration Serum turned out to be the perfect retinol + serum routine for my skin. Let’s get into why I love and how I use both of these products…
Active Hydration Serum

After I’ve cleansed and toned my face, I like to immediately use the Active Hydration Serum. This serum really works best before applying facial moisturizer.
I love that the applicator comes with a dropper that gives you just the right amount of product to use. The serum has a nice subtle smell to it and feels very moisturizing as soon as I massage the product into my skin.
Like I mentioned earlier, I’ve been having slightly dry skin and this serum is great because it works to boost your skin’s hydration level by 200%—leaving your skin soft and moisturized all day long. I like to use the serum in the morning and night to really lock in moisture in my skin.
Since using the Active Hydration Serum, I feel like my skin looks more youthful and plump, and the appearance of my fine lines are starting to fade away a bit.
The star ingredients in the serum are Rodan + Fields patented 3D3P Molecular Matrix, which delivers a high level of Glycerin and cross-linked Hyaluronic Acid to the skin to draw moisture and lock it onto the surface of the skin.
I definitely think the Active Hydration Serum is worth the investment towards more youthful and hydrated-looking skin.
Don’t worry if you don’t have dry skin like mine, this serum works just as well with oily/combination skin. Just apply once at night with your skincare routine for amazing results.
Redefine Intensive Renewing Serum
Price: $102
So after I’ve finished the first few steps of my skincare routine and finished applying the Active Hydration Serum, I like to go in with the Redefine Intensive Renewing Serum. The retinal face serum comes in super cute biodegradable single-use capsules that ensure the formula’s stability.
This serum is really great for reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Each capsule uses their proprietary Retinal-MD technology, which is a form of Vitamin A that is gentle enough for daily use that helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, so skin looks healthier and younger.
I only use these capsules at nighttime since they have retinoids in them. They’re also super easy to use! All you have to do is twist off the tail and squeeze the serum into your hands.
The Redefine Intensive Renewing Serum is more of a target-focused, anti-aging skincare product. So, if you’re looking for something to help address the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines this is definitely the product you need in your skincare routine!
I would also say that the $102 price point is definitely within reason since you’re investing in your skin and most retinoid products you’ll find are around this price point.
After finishing up cleansing, toner, and applying the Rodan + Fields serums, it’s time for moisturizer. And that’s my completed routine.
Incorporating the Active Hydration Serum and Redefine Intensive Renewing Serum into my everyday skincare ritual has given me the results I’ve been looking for. My skin doesn’t feel as dry anymore and my fine lines are less visibly prominent.
Friendly reminder that your skin results won’t happen overnight. It takes consistency and patience to see results. 🙂
