Today I’m sharing a Flodesk review and diving into a topic that’s been a game-changer for me as a blogger and content creator: email marketing.
First of all, if you’re a blogger, influencer, content creator, small business owner, etc. and you don’t have an email newsletter, you’re gonna wanna head on over here and use my referral link to try Flodesk for free (no credit card required) + receive 50% off your first year.
While it might not sound or feel as sexy as Instagram or Tiktok, having an email list is essential if you want to grow your brand and business. You could have a million followers on Instagram, but if the app goes down on the day you’re launching something new, or your account gets hacked and stolen (which happened to me—thankfully, I got it back), or your account gets banned (this randomly happened to a friend of mine), suddenly you have no way to communicate with your audience.
I know some of my blogger friends have told me they’re intimidated to try building a list because it feels intimidating, they think it’ll take too much time, or they feel like they should have started an email newsletter years ago so they’re behind and there’s no point now.
But with Flodesk, it’s so easy to get started and if you don’t have an email newsletter yet, that’s ok! The best time to start is now.
I’ve been using Flodesk for years and made the switch from Mailchimp to Flodesk a while back (you can read my Flodesk vs Mailchimp post here). I also use ConvertKit for my sales funnel for my SEO course, so I’ve experienced several different email marketing platforms, and Flodesk is by far my favorite. Let’s get into why I love it so much…
Flodesk Review: Why I Love Flodesk
Stunning Templates
Flodesk’s templates are really what first drew me in. They’re absolutely beautiful and so easy to use. I remember when I first received someone else’s email newsletter—it was so visually stunning, and at the bottom it said “Made with Flodesk.” I had to check it out and was immediately blown away by all their pretty templates.
Whether you’re sending out a general newsletter, an announcement, or a sales promo, their templates are just so pretty and easy to customize with your brand’s logos and colors. The editor is super intuitive—you just drag and drop, making it a cinch to create beautiful emails without being a graphic designer.
One monthly price, unlimited subscribers
Unlike competitors, Flodesk doesn’t penalize you for growing your list. This is HUGE. I have over 13k email subscribers, which would cost me $1,500/year with ConvertKit, or $2,760/year with Mailchimp. As my email list continues to grow, that cost would only increase with these platforms.
Flodesk’s pricing is one flat rate per month and SO much more reasonable, and it doesn’t increase as your subscribers grow.
And don’t forget, you can use my referral link to try Flodesk for free (no credit card required) + receive 50% off your first year.
Easy Automation
Efficiency is my love language, and automation is a lifesaver. I have several different automated email sequences set up, such as a welcome sequence, a sales sequence for anyone who downloads my free Lightroom preset, and a travel series for people who sign up for location-specific emails.
I’m a big fan of being able to “set it and forget it,” and Flodesk’s workflows help me do just that.
Beautiful Form Designs
Flodesk makes it easy to create beautiful and functional pop-ups, embedded forms, and landing pages. Just like their emails, you can easily customize them with your brand’s photos, colors, and fonts. And you don’t have to be techy to set them up—just copy/paste the code it spits out for you!
I’ve used these for so many different aspects of my business. Of course, the most obvious one is a subscribe pop-up on your website. But I’ve also used these for easily sharing freebies that I talk about on my podcast. For example, in an episode about goal setting, I’d tell followers to head to whatthefab.com/2024 to download my visioning + goal setting workbook. From there, they enter their info into the form and are automatically emailed the workbook and added to my subscribers list.
Extra Tools
Flodesk also has extra tools in addition to email marketing, including a link in bio page and Flodesk Checkout. While I personally haven’t used either of these tools (I already have my own link in bio page that I made on my website, and my course is hosted on Kajabi), it’s cool to have these options.
With their Link in Bio builder, you can create an on-brand landing page that you can link to in your social media profiles and easily direct people to sign up for a freebie or click over to a sales page.
And with Flodesk Checkout, you can sell online with beautiful sales pages, online payments, and instant product delivery.
Flodesk has truly transformed the way I approach email marketing as a blogger and content creator. Its blend of beautiful design, the fact that it’s so easy to use, and its awesome features make it such an important tool for my business. If you’re looking to uplevel your email marketing game (or start your email marketing game) I absolutely recommend giving Flodesk a try.
