We’ve been slowly but surely adding some fun things to our backyard over the last year (like our egg chair!), and it’s finally gotten to a point where the furniture is comfortable and the cooking gadgets are all set up.
We have a Weber Grill, Traeger Smoker, and an Ooni pizza oven in the backyard and it’s been so fun to be able to cook out there!
While that might sound like a lot (do you really need two grills? the answer is, yes), each cooking grill/oven has its own special use cases, and we’ve been loving having all three!
Here’s what we’ve been using them for:
Weber Grill
We use the Weber for everyday BBQing. Hot dogs, hamburgers, steaks (we like to grill London broil), etc. are great on there. We also love grilling vegetables on our Weber. We went with a gas grill, but they also have charcoal. It’s super convenient and we love it!
Traeger Smoker
We were soo excited to get a Traeger! I hadn’t really heard of them before becoming a homeowner (none of these items are very practical when you live in an SF apartment lol), but once I discovered them I knew we had to have one in the backyard.
Traegers are wood pellet grills that you can use to smoke meats. So far we’ve smoked (and by we, I mean Omied) salmon, chicken, and brisket in the Traeger. We are OBSESSED. We’ve done the smoked chicken a few times now because it is just SO good. I’m usually pretty meh on chicken, but apparently that’s just because I’d never owned a smoker before. Smoked chicken is juicy, tender, and so flavorful.
We’ve also done the smoked salmon a couple times and omg is it amazing. So delicious for dinner and then smoked salmon on bagels and cream cheese in the morning. Seriously such a treat.
As you can see we’ve been really into our new Traeger lately and we can’t wait to experiment with more smoked meats!
Ooni Pizza Oven
I wrote an in-depth Ooni Pro review here, but suffice it to say, we love this thing.
Omied’s homemade pizzas made with the Ooni have been freaking awesome. Like seriously, so so good.
It’s been really fun to play around with different toppings and sauces. I pretty much want Omied to make me homemade pizzas every weekend!
Viral Tiktok cooking trends always get me (like Juicy Chicken 101), and the Ooni and Traeger are no exception!
