We just recently had brunch at the Arguello restaurant in The Presidio (clearly I’m on a Traci Des Jardins kick—you can read all about our experience at one of her other restaurants, The Commissary, here), and it has quickly become one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the Golden Gate city!
Arguello is located inside the historic Presidio Officers’ Club and also has a beautiful little patio for outdoor dining. We sat outside—love a good al fresco dining moment!—and had a lovely Sunday brunch that started off with a delish bloody mary.
You can order their bloodies with either tequila or vodka, so we tried one of each and they were both SO good. They had just the right amount of kick and my mouth is watering just thinking about them.
To pair with our drinks, we had had freshly made chips with guacamole—my fav—as an appetizer. The service here is amazing and everything came out timely.
I had the chilaquiles (I LOVE chilaquiles and really can’t stay away when I see them on the menu) and they were BOMB. Omied had the sweet potato hash with cochinita pibil (slow roasted pork) and that dish was also so well done and delicious. Definitely recommend either of these dishes if you’re going for brunch!
I’m adding Arguello to my list (right now it’s a mental list, but I should probably do an actual blog post review) of best brunch places in SF. Although their dinner menu also looks fantastic—all of the empanadas, taquitos, and chile rellenos, please!
Arguello would also be a great spot for cocktails and bites, and their happy hour menu is available Wednesday – Friday from 3 – 5pm. You’ll find $8 cocktails (margs, palomas, and mules, oh my!) as well as some yummy bites on the hh menu. Grab a cozy seat on the patio at El Fogón (the fireside).
Arguello is open Wednesday – Saturday for lunch and dinner, Sunday and Tuesday for lunch, and closed Mondays. You can make reservations on Open Table or their website, here!
San Francisco has no shortage of seriously delicious Mexican food. Whether you’re looking for street tacos for super cheap or an elevated experience with bold and interesting flavor combos, the San Francisco Bay Area has got you covered, bon appetite!
