I think it’s funny when my girlfriends say something and then their eyes widen and they exclaim, “Oh my gosh, I’m becoming my mother!” I definitely see my mother in myself—in my words, actions, and sense of humor—and I see that as a wonderful thing! I like to think I got my fierce independence and work ethic from her. And as I’ve gotten older, our taste in fashion and accessories has started to collide more and more. I love shopping with my mom, and a lot of times we’ll accidentally come out of the dressing room wearing the same thing, having picked out the same skirt or pants, like on a recent shopping trip to T.J. Maxx. While my mom typically prefers shopping online, it’s usually not hard to convince her to pop into T.J. Maxx with me, because who can resist a great deal and some mother-daughter shopping time? It’s also where we’ve made great finds, like when she picked out this bridesmaid dress for me (months ahead of when I was even going to start looking for a dress) to wear at my cousin’s wedding.
T.J. Maxx has always been one of my favorite places to stop by spur of the moment and see what on-trend pieces happen to be in the store. Spontaneously finding that perfect dress for a date night, or in my case in these photos, the perfect dress to add to my weekend suitcase in LA, never fails to add a little spring to my step! This body-con striped dress and these sassy sandals were perfect finds for a night out in LaLa Land. I also wore it with a bomber jacket when things cooled off in the evenings (Yes, even LA gets cold at night! Sometimes.), and the next day I threw on some short culottes over this bodycon dress and wore it as a top. One dress, three ways—perfect for packing light while traveling!
Have you had a shopping date with your mom at T.J. Maxx lately? What on-trend pieces will you find?
maxx savings. maxx style. maxx life.
