Amsterdam is one of the funnest cities in Europe, and there’s no better way to enjoy the city than at some of the best rooftop bars in Amsterdam. You can enjoy any of the rooftop bars Amsterdam has to offer as soon as the sun is high in the sky, and not a single person will bat an eye.
I don’t know about you, but those are my kind of people.
I learned so many things when I went to the Netherlands. For one, it’s totally normal and actually encouraged to bike around town while bar hopping. That was a bit of a shock, but hey, when in Amsterdam, right?
Anyway, I also discovered some cool rooftop bars with amazing views and an unbeatable atmosphere that I’m so excited to share with you!
I’ll go ahead and jump right into my list of the best rooftop bars in Amsterdam.

Best Rooftop Bars in Amsterdam
1. SkyLounge Amsterdam
Get ready, you’re about to have the best night out in Amsterdam at SkyLounge.
SkyLounge is a rooftop bar located on top of the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel. It offers incredible views over Amsterdam and is one of the most popular spots for locals and tourists to enjoy a cocktail or two.
The bar is located near Amsterdam Central Station, making it extremely easy to walk to or bike to—if you’re brave.
SkyLounge is open every day of the year and offers a menu for lunch, evening bites, and all-day dishes.
Along with their yummy signature cocktails and other drinks, you can relax in the lounge indoors or on the outdoor roof terrace.
During the day, the atmosphere is super chill and vibey, but at night it becomes a vibrant club lounge.
2. W Lounge at W Amsterdam

The luxurious rooftop bar is located right in the heart of Amsterdam at the W Amsterdam. You can admire the stunning view from the dam lookout and its rooftops, including a close-up of the Royal Palace.
The glass lounge area is elegantly designed and features balcony terraces, comfortable lounge chairs, and a gorgeous rooftop pool. I’m telling you—take your pics here!
I love that this cocktail bar offers opportunities to try new mixology cocktails and enjoy delicious bar bites.
And the bar hosts various events such as DJ sessions, Social Sundays, pool parties, and rooftop yoga. Seriously, they do everything here.
Plus it’s close to the Red Light District, so if you want to check that out, it’s just a short walk away.
3. Floor 17
I can’t imagine views getting any better than being 17 floors up in Amsterdam.
The Floor 17 terrace is about 280 feet above the ground level and offers a modern lounge-style decor. This is where you’ll get unbeatable panoramic views of Amsterdam.
The rooftop bar is located on top of the Leonardo Hotel Amsterdam (formerly known as Ramada Apollo Hotel) by Rembrandt Park and is open all year. If you’re familiar at all with the Netherlands weather, then you know how awesome it is to have a rooftop open all year long.
The rooftop menu consists of creative signature cocktails, European-inspired dishes, and small plates perfect for sharing.
Have fruity cocktails with a view during the summer, and in the winter, curl up with a smokey whiskey and cozy up to the indoor fireplace.
4. Twenty Third Bar
The Twenty Third Bar gets its name from its incredible location on the 23rd floor of the Hotel Okura, go figure.
Up this high, you’ll be able to enjoy the stunning views of Amsterdam. It’s a much more luxurious place than a lot of the options on this list, and it’s the perfect spot for a romantic evening.
Enjoy the magnificent views while having a refreshing glass of champagne or sipping on one of their signature cocktails.
And visiting the Ciel Bleu Restaurant is a must when you’re here. It’s connected to the bar and has been awarded two Michelin stars, so you know it’s good.
5. GAPP
Being so close to Germany, there is no chance Amsterdam doesn’t have a top-notch beer garden.
The GAPP rooftop terrace is a beautiful garden where you can relax and enjoy a beer with friends. It’s located on top of the Hotel Casa Amsterdam and has stunning views of the city skyline.
The terrace is spacious and uncovered and full of flowers, making it a perfect oasis in the heart of the city. It’s a great spot to enjoy drinks during the day or at sunset, but it’s only open when the weather permits.
The rooftop bar offers a wide variety of beers, including a lot of local options. If you aren’t sure what to get, you can always try one of their beer flights.
6. On the Roof
A summer night at On the Roof is just vibes on vibes. They have live music and DJs playing all night, as well as some of the best views in Amsterdam.
From June to September each year, you can experience Amsterdam’s diverse and colorful music scene.
The venue has done an incredible job of creating an intimate setting that makes you feel like you’re part of the music.
Make sure to visit the spacious rooftop terrace for a drink before or after the concert. It’s my favorite way to combine the music experience with a beautiful sunset view.
7. REM
REM Restaurant, Bar & Rooftop is one of the most unique dining experiences in Amsterdam.
The bar is on an 80-foot platform placed on poles in the water of the Nieuwe Houthaven in Amsterdam. It spans three floors and features a rooftop area.
The restaurant and bar have a very stylish interior, an outdoor terrace with a helipad, and stunning views of the water and Amsterdam skyline.
This is the perfect place for a date night as they serve fine dining with a playful twist, seasonal cocktails, and a wide selection of beers.
It’s easy to get lost in the conversation here as you marvel at the views.
8. A’DAM LOOKOUT and Madam
A’DAM is a lookout observation deck that covers the 19th, 20th, and 21st floors and is located 330 feet above the ground.
It provides stunning panoramic views of Amsterdam and offers drinks, food, and a sky-high swing ride for those of you who enjoy thrilling experiences. It’s pretty terrifying, maybe after a drink or two, ha.
At A’DAM, you’ll also find Madam on the floor below. The restaurant will give you a beautiful panoramic view of the city and its the highest sky bar in Amsterdam.
It’s the perfect place to have a few drinks while watching the sunset over the city.
9. Bar Bistro Bureau
Bar Bistro Bureau is a rooftop restaurant and bar located on the 5th floor of B. Amsterdam Johan Huizingalaan 763a.
On warm nights enjoy their outdoor seating options, or if it’s chilly, you can sit inside and enjoy their beautiful interior.
This place is a bit of a secret, but it’s worth checking out. They have a large, modern indoor dining area and a beautiful rooftop park with lots of plants and great views. A cute little urban oasis.
The rooftop serves lunch, dinner, and drinks on weekdays, and the menu is always changing with the seasons. The chef is very inventive, making each time you go more unique than the last.
10. The Roof at NEMO
The NEMO Science Museum is not just a place for family fun but also has the highest city square in the Netherlands on its rooftop.
The rooftop, which architect Renzo Piano designed, has a large terrace with an outdoor exhibition called Energetica, a restaurant, and a stunning view over Oosterdok and Amsterdam’s historic center.
They have an outdoor cinema where special rooftop movie nights take place throughout the year. Whether you’re looking for a casual hangout or an upscale experience, this is such a fun and unique option.
11. Mondi Pianobar & Restaurant at SkyBar 747
Mondi Pianobar & Restaurant at SkyBar 747 is situated at the Corendon Plaza Hotel in Badhoevedorp, between Amsterdam and Schiphol Airport.
So maybe it’s not your first option when it comes to Amsterdam rooftops, but this place is definitely worth the trip.
The piano bar offers a unique atmosphere where you can enjoy meeting other travelers, sipping delicious cocktails, and listening to live music.
The rooftop location is relaxed and sophisticated, featuring both an indoor lounge and an outdoor rooftop terrace.
It’s the perfect spot to begin or end your visit to Amsterdam while enjoying creative signature cocktails, international cuisine, and live music.
