Did a little outfit shoot at Mission San Luis Obispo in this fun, neon pink dress!

I picked out this dress from one of the cutest boutiques in downtown SLO, Ambiance! If you’re strolling around the downtown area, you have to stop here for a bit of shopping. They have such cute styles and carry a lot of my favorite brands like Mother denim, Anine Bing, and Free People.

You can just tell that their pieces are expertly and lovingly sourced and they’ve curated an awesome selection. Plus the girls that work there are super friendly and helpful.

I picked out this cute dress for a pop of color and borrowed this hat for our shoot. We then strolled on over to the Mission.

When you were a kid, did you have to do a California Missions project where you build one from scratch? Mine was the San Luis Obispo Mission. Or was it the San Diego Mission? Or San Francisco? Maybe it was Monterey…

These days they have mission kits that you can buy, but back in my day (omg, ok grandma), we had to come up with whatever materials we thought would be best to build them.

I’m not a crafty person and so this responsibility fell largely on my parents…who are not super crafty either. I remember having a sad-looking mission made out of some sort of styrofoam.

Meanwhile, my best friend was very artistic and meticulously laid dried macaroni one by one to make a gorgeous mission rooftop.

Anyways, I digress!

A little history about this particular mission. Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa is a Spanish mission. It’s the fifth California mission, founded September 1, 1772 by Father Junípero Serra, and it’s the namesake of SLO.

They offer public tours of the mission church and grounds, and there’s a pretty garden here where you can sit and relax in the shade.

Location:

751 Palm St
San Luis Obispo, CA 93401

The Mission sits next to a community park, Mission Plaza, surrounded by shopping and dining in downtown SLO. The Plaza hosts community events like free summer concerts.

Tours:

Monday – Saturday 1:15 pm
Sunday 2:00 pm

Note the museum and gift shop are currently closed due to the panny. For more information, you can check the mission’s website here.
