How to throw an Oscars party

Share this post or pin it for later!

Are you guys watching The Oscar’s this Sunday? Awards shows are a lot more fun when you’re watching them with friends, so I’ve put together a few tips for hosting your own Oscar’s viewing party at home!

The Invitation

A chic invite is easy to whip up with sites like Postmark and Punchbowl. In a day and age where people send our their Save The Dates electronically, it’s perfectly fine to send an email invite for your party. If you want to be an over-achiever, you can also mail them through these sites. But I prefer the instant gratification of sending out an invite via email and getting responses right away from my overly-connected friends.

The Cocktails
Baileys has always been one of my favorite drinks. Possibly because I like my drinks to be disguised as desserts. And I love that whether you drink Baileys as-is over ice, or add a couple simple ingredients, it’s delicious. For an Oscar’s-inspired drink, you can easily make a Baileys Red Carpetini (cute, huh?) by mashing a few raspberries at the bottom of your glass, adding some ice, and pouring on the Baileys. Add a few raspberries to garnish and enjoy!

Another recipe from Baileys that sounds Oscar-worthy: the Glamour Shot

Add some fabulous to your evening with this decadent blend of Baileys Vanilla Cinnamon and pure gold leaf.

Ingredients
1 oz. Baileys Vanilla Cinnamon
0.5 oz. Goldschlager Cinnamon Schnapps Edible gold flakes (Optional; found at most baking stores)

Directions
Rim shot glass with gold flakes. Mix ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a shot
glass.

Legal
This recipe contains no more than 0.6 fl oz. of alcohol per serving.

The Photo booth
Every party needs a good photo booth. What’s the point of getting all dressed up if you’re not going to have fun photos to look back on years from now? Photo booths don’t need to be a long, drawn out DIY ordeal. Slap some decor on the wall and set up a camera with a tripod and you’re good to go. Here’s one I made for last New Year’s, and here are a couple more for your inspiration…

The Dish-ware
Add even more gold and sparkle to the ambiance with adorable gold polka-dot Kate Spade plates and gold cutlery. Serve popcorn in gold bowls, and sprinkle some glittery coasters around for people to put their drinks on.

The Outfit

When I’m hosting, I like to wear dresses, because they’re comfortable and keep me looking put together. Black and gold with lots of shimmer may be an obvious choice for an awards party, but add a few pops with a red lip and quirky rings, and you’ll be in business. Just be sure to wear an apron while you’re mashing those berries for your cocktail. 😉

Ok, I’m off to go watch a couple more of the nominated movies so I know what the heck is going on Sunday night! What other touches do you like to include when you’re hosting an awards party?
