Sharing photos today from our DIY maternity shoot! We had a couple of check-up appts last week and found out that Baby A may be coming a bit earlier than expected! He’s been measuring about a week ahead since the very beginning, and he’s currently positioned super low and looking ready to make his debut any day now!

We thought we had a liiiittle more time before his arrival so this news definitely kicked things into gear for us in terms of checking things off our baby prep to-do list! We basically scrambled over the weekend to finish packing our hospital bags, wash and put away baby clothes, etc.
And now, we wait!
Another thing we hadn’t done yet was my maternity shoot. We had attempted a shoot in a field of mustard flowers last month but then we got rained on so that didn’t work out so well.
I knew I wanted Omied to take my maternity photos rather than hiring a maternity photog—it makes them even more special that he’s the one shooting them. I had originally envisioned that we would rent a photo studio, I’d hire a hair and makeup artist, and I’d have a few different outfit changes, some glam, some casual, etc.
We scrapped that idea because 1. I’m tired and 2. We just don’t have time now haha. And after having a somewhat elaborate (but so special and fun and joyful!) baby shower (see the blog post from our travel-themed baby shower here), Omied was like, can we just keep the maternity shoot chill??
I laughed and told him well, your wife is extra, so my initial reaction is absolutely not, but realistically, yes, that’s a great idea. So I put on my white lace maternity shoot dress from Pink Blush, and we grabbed our camera and tripod and went to a vineyard near our house at golden hour and shot my maternity photos.
When I saw the pics of me and Omied, I totally started crying. They’re just so sweet (and I’m very hormonal rn lol). I love how our DIY maternity shoot turned out and will cherish these photos forever!
