During our last night in London we got to experience something a little different than the usual dinner out in Soho. Have you heard of the new Airbnb Experiences? They’ve recently launched in a few cities like SF, London and Paris, and it’s a fun way to experience something in a new city, led by a local expert. Since Omied and I are foodies, we chose a dining-related experience for our last night, but they also offer all sorts of creative experiences, including more artsy or sporty options. We went to A Taste of Spitalfields, which was held in a 300 year old building in Spitalfields that had a really interesting history. Our hostess Emma was absolutely lovely and I loved chatting with her and hearing about her experiences growing up a Londoner. She cooked up a beautiful four-course meal for a group of eight of us, and the dishes were all inspired by Spitalfields’ rich history. There was plenty of wine flowing and it was a really fun way to meet other travelers and locals, and to learn about the building’s history as a surgeon’s operating room, antique store, greasy spoon diner for workers leaving the graveyard shift, and more. If you’re planning your next trip and looking for something different, check out Airbnb Experiences to see if they’re in the city you’re traveling to!
