InterContinental Singapore review, by travel bloggers Babes That Wander

I just got back from an awesome trip to Singapore with my sister and wanted to share a bit more about the hotel we stayed at in this InterContinental Singapore review post!

InterContinental Singapore hotel is beautiful and a heritage landmark in the heart of the Bugis junction shopping area. It was the perfect home base for us as we spent a few days exploring Singapore!

When we first pulled up, I immediately noticed how grand the hotel is. The vibe is modern and luxe while also giving an Old World ambiance. It’s giving Singaporean Wes Anderson vibes!

The hotel is spread out through several buildings, and we stayed in their Heritage Wing. The layout and design incorporate some of the Bugis district’s 1920s Straits Chinese shophouses into the hotel’s structure and design, and it had a fun and lively feel to it as we passed through atriums and walkways to get to our room.

InterContinental Singapore is the only Peranakan (descendants of early Chinese migrants who settled in Penang, Malacca, and Singapore) inspired luxury hotel in Singapore, so it’s definitely a special place to stay!

All of the staff were friendly, warm, and helpful and we felt very welcome there. If you’re planning a trip to Singapore, I’d definitely recommend making InterContinental Singapore your Homebase!

Location

This was my first time visiting Singapore and I knew I wanted to stay in a very central location. We only had a few days in the city before we were on our way to the Maldives, and I wanted to make the most of our time!

While the hotel is located near the Bugis train station, we took cabs during our stay because it was the quickest option and it was always easy to get one from the hotel. Be sure to download the Grab app, which is like Uber.

All the restaurants and sights we wanted to go to were within a 15-minute cab ride (oftentimes less) from the hotel so it made getting around quick and easy.

Rooms

The rooms are spacious and elegantly decorated. From the marble bathroom to the luxurious bed, Hanae and I were super comfortable here.

There are also Nespresso machines in the rooms, which the caffeine addict in me always appreciates!

I loved the color palette of the decor in our room, which included pastel blues and earthy tones, plus some added glam like the chandelier.

InterContinental Club Lounge

We also had access to the club lounge, which was so nice! They serve breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails and canapes here.

The breakfasts were fantastic and the perfect way to start our day before heading out to explore Singapore. They have a lovely buffet and a menu of hot items like omelets, eggs any style, and even dim sum.

We did afternoon tea here a couple of times as well and it was a great little afternoon pick-me-up. They have a variety of teas you can choose from and they serve little sandwiches and desserts that rotate daily.

Food and Drinks

When we finally got to Singapore, we were exhausted from a long travel day (the flight from SFO was 15 hours!). So it was great to have delicious dining options right at the hotel.

We had dinner at one of the hotel’s restaurants, Man Fu Yuan, which translates to the garden of abundant blessings.

The menu at this fine dining restaurant is inspired by the Silk Route which connected China to Southeast Asia. Like the rest of the property, the menu felt like the perfect combination of traditional mixed with modern and some surprises along the way.

Everything we had was delicious and the presentation on a lot of the dishes was so unique and fun.

The hotel has several other dining options including LUCE for Italian dining, The Lobby Lounge for light bites, drinks, or afternoon tea, and Chikuyotei for fine Japanese dining.

Amenities

Singapore gets pretty hot and humid so we were happy to find there’s a rooftop outdoor swimming pool here! It’s a great spot for guests to relax and cool off during the day.

Hanae also took advantage of the gym here and got some early morning workouts in (I, on the other hand, opted to be lazy and just enjoy my vacation lol).

We had such a great stay here and really enjoyed our time in Singapore thanks to InterContinental!

Thank you to InterContinental for hosting us for this media stay!
