Sharing a unique Airbnb California list today and you’re going to love them!
If you’re thinking of a trip to California (my home state!), then I definitely recommend booking an Airbnb. Travel in California is made much easier by renting a car and having your own Airbnb to kick back in once you’re done exploring for the day.
With so many unique Airbnbs in California, you have a lot of instagrammable options like treehouses, farmhouses, even a lighthouse! Brb, I’m off to plan a CA road trip so I can stay in all of these…
Unique Airbnb California
Ok, guys, this unique California Airbnb is definitely up there as one of the best. Even the New York Times has recommended this place, so it must be good!
It's a homesteader cabin situated in Joshua Tree National Park, with nothing but acres and acres of desert surrounding you. Inside, the cabin is not as rustic as you'd think; it is super stylish, with stripped-back design and mid-century furniture.
The ideal weekend getaway, this place is as perfect a base for hiking as it is for stargazing from the veranda at night.
Up to 2 guests // 1 bedroom // 1 beds // 1 bath. Prices from $196 per night. Check pricing and dates here.
This 1949 hacienda, designed in the Spanish Colonial Revival style, is a gorgeous place to stay in Joshua Tree. There's a fair amount of space too, making it a good option for families.
Easily one of the best unique Airbnbs in California, this awesome place is all about living a slow pace of life—from enjoying a coffee outside in the morning to listening to records as the sun sets surrounded by Joshua trees; it feels like a cozy, private retreat (your perfect little love nest).
It even has its own outdoor hot tub. How could you not want to stay here?!
Up to 6 guests // 2 bedroom // 2 beds // 2 bath. Prices from $294 per night. Check pricing and dates here.
When it comes to unique Airbnbs in California, how does a modern, beautifully designed treehouse sound? This may just be one of the coolest Airbnbs going.
Spending the night up a tree has never been so luxurious. Located next to the Redwood Forest State Park—just outside Santa Cruz—this place has gorgeous wood detailing, plenty of light, an amazing eye for design, and an outdoor deck that is screaming out for me to read a book on it.
As if all that wasn't good enough, the only way to get to this treehouse is across your very own bridge into the canopy of the trees. Amazing! Perfect for a romantic getaway!
Up to 6 guests // 3 bedroom // 3 beds // 1 bath. Prices from $385 per night. Check pricing and dates here.
If a treehouse wasn't enough for you, then maybe a luxury camping hut in Elk—just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean (with a beach nearby)—is more your thing.
This atmospheric Airbnb is totally about rustic living, but in a cute, nicely designed way. There's even a roll-top bathtub out on the porch, which is perfect for some time spent soaking at night.
You may want to look up some travel tips before you head here, though, because it's so off-grid that there's no kitchen! But that definitely gives you a chance to unplug, de-stress and recharge your batteries.
Still not convinced about booking it? This place has AMAZING reviews!
Up to 1 guests // 1 bedroom // 1 beds // 1 bath. Prices from $150 per night. Check pricing and dates here.
This place is perfect for families—whether you want to have a winter break in February, or you want to escape the heat of Los Angeles in summer.
A classic aesthetic for its Lake Tahoe locale, this chalet has enough room to sleep up to eight guests. They even accept dogs, so the family pup can come along for the ride!
Spend time playing board games around the fire, hiking among the redwoods, swimming in the lake, and generally enjoying some quality time together. It's a very homey place.
This unique California Airbnb is conveniently within driving distance of multiple state parks.
Up to 8 guests // 3 bedroom // 5 beds // 2 bath. Prices from $125 per night. Check pricing and dates here.
If you've had enough of San Francisco for the time being, and you need somewhere totally off-grid to take a break, might I suggest a lighthouse?
Yes, it's an actual lighthouse, but you get to sleep in the renovated cottage next door, complete with stylish, modern interiors. There's also a whale-watching room for the chance to spot whales, which makes sense since you'll be surrounded by beautiful California beaches and breathtaking views! You'll even find a museum on site here.
Up to 2 guests // 1 bedroom // 1 beds // 1 bath. Prices from $225 per night. Check pricing and dates here.
Ok, so I have really left the best until last. This place is AMAZING.
It may not look like much—more like a rusty old shack—but this is actually a cutting-edge, architectural dream of an Airbnb.
With its quiet, secluded property located close to Joshua Tree, you'll be free to relax and unwind here. One of the best things about it has got to be the stargazing bed, complete with a retractable roof and reached by a ladder. Simply unreal.
Up to 6 guests // 2 bedroom // 2 beds // 1 bath. Prices from $300 per night. Check pricing and dates here.
If you're looking to head to California's wine country, this guesthouse in Santa Rosa is the perfect spot. Complete with its own pool and overlooking an active vineyard, you'll fall in love with Sonoma. While Napa is great, you'll be staying at a perfect location for visiting smaller wine country areas like Healdsburg and Windsor.
Up to 2 guests // 1 bedroom // 1 bed // 1 bath. Prices from $285 per night. Check pricing and dates here.
