Last month I went on a biz trip to DC. I hopped on a red-eye flight on a Sunday night, explored on Monday, and had a day full of meetings Tuesday. It was a whirlwind trip, and it took me a couple days to recover, but it was well worth it. I’d never been to DC. When I was in middle school, the coolest thing about being an 8th grader was that you got to go on a week-long field trip with your American History class. Unfortunately, our sign-up date for the DC trip was preceded by September 11th. And my parents said hell to the no. Understandable, looking back, but at the time, I was not pleased. Anyways, I had less than two days in DC to make up for the 8th grade field trip that I missed, so I packed in as much as I could. I had a blast walking from the Lincoln Memorial down to the Capitol, and stopping everywhere in between, including three of the Smithsonian Museums (did you know there are 19 Smithsonian museums and they’re all free??).
