If you’re heading to California wine country, you’re going to love staying and exploring Healdsburg! After staying in Healdsburg many times (you know I love doing my research), I’ve come up with a list of some of the best hotels in Healdsburg.
Located in Sonoma County, it’s only a short drive away from Napa or the city. I think Healdsburg is the best place to travel to for a weekend trip wine tasting that’s a bit more low-key (and more affordable) than Napa.
It’s so so beautiful in Healdsburg, you’ll get a taste of Sonoma wine country mixed with some cute downtown vibes. Downtown Healdsburg is a super cute place to enjoy fine dining, shopping, and drinking.
I highly recommend eating at Dry Creek Kitchen—you can read my full Dry Creek Kitchen review here. If you’re looking for more restaurants, check out my Healdsburg Restaurants guide here.
There’s so much to do and places to stay in Healdsburg, I hope you enjoy this guide to the best of the best Healdsburg hotels.
Top 10 Hotels in Healdsburg
1. Harmon Guest House
I had the best experience staying at the Harmon Guest House a while back. It’s a super cute boutique hotel located in downtown Healdsburg.
I got to stay in the Harmon King room that was perfect for me and Omied—it was very spacious. The room was decorated with minimalist decor and there was an adorable little dining nook.
The best part was the balcony that had seating overlooking the glassed-in central courtyard. I loved sitting out there sipping on my morning coffee (every room comes with a Nespresso machine).
They offer free complimentary breakfast next door at their sister hotel, H2 Hotel, with fancy options like scrambles, chilaquiles, pancakes, and a mimosa bar.
After breakfast, you can enjoy the rooftop bar, The Rooftop, which overlooks Sonoma County’s hills and downtown Healdsburg.
The Harmon Guest House is the one hotel that I always recommend to my friends and fam. You can read my full in-depth Harmon Guest House review here.
2. Hotel Les Mars
Hotel Les Mars is another gorgeous French-inspired hotel located in downtown Healdsburg. Since it’s a boutique hotel there are only 16 rooms so definitely book in advance.
The rooms are stunning with canopy beds and a cozy fireplace—there’s incredible attention to detail. My favorite feature is the stunning marble bathrooms and jacuzzi.
I could literally soak in that tub and relax all day! They even offer a selection of bath salts to choose from.
For breakfast, they offer a French-style continental breakfast with croissants, espresso, orange juice, and yogurt. For dinner, enjoy a delicious pasta dinner from the connecting restaurant, Chalkboard.
After a long day, you can also enjoy the complimentary nightly wine and cheese happy hour before or after dinner.
Since you’re located downtown, you’re within walking distance of all the shops, tastings, and restaurants. You can read my full Hotel Les Mars review here.
3. Hotel Healdsburg
Hotel Healdsburg is the perfect place to stay for a romantic getaway, it’s located right in the heart of downtown, and it’s also where you can find the famous Dry Creek Kitchen.
Hotel Healdsburg offers a romantic rendezvous where they celebrate your love with a bottle of sparkling wine, chocolates, and fresh flowers—perfect for anniversaries.
The rooms are decorated with a Northern California theme incorporating natural elements like wood and cloudscape paintings. You’ll feel so relaxed as soon as you step foot into your room.
You also get to enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast to satisfy all of your cravings. For lunch or dinner, try Dry Creek Kitchen or Pizzando.
After for drinks, head over to the new Spirit Bar in the hotel lobby lounge. The best part is that on Fridays and Saturdays they offer live jazz music with wine sampling.
And of course, Hotel Healdsburg has a pool—perfect for those warm summer days.
4. H2 Hotel
The H2 Hotel is part of the same boutique hotel ownership as the Harmon Guest House and Hotel Healdsburg, so you know everything is going to be aesthetically pleasing. I love the way the rooms have natural and minimal designs to them.
You’ll notice that the rooms have some Japanese inspired details like the plunge tubs and glass walk-in showers. Everything feels so light and airy in the rooms—it’s so relaxing.
The pool has a super cool solar heating feature that heats up the water by the power of the sun. There’s also a ton of lounge chairs around the pool to spend a day unwinding.
If you’re not up for swimming, you can check out the free 3 hour bike rental to explore Healdsburg and everything the little downtown area has to offer.
For meals, enjoy complimentary continental breakfast in the mornings and Spoonbar for dinner. Spoonbar is a contemporary American restaurant that serves artisinal seasonal dishes and drinks.
5. Healdsburg Inn, A Four Sisters Inn
Healdsburg Inn is a super cute bed and breakfast style hotel. If you’re looking for the ultimate cottage core aesthetic, this is the perfect hotel to stay at.
All the guest rooms have a cozy vibe to them making it feel very homey. You’ll find a fireplace in every room to snuggle up with a good book.
I personally would pick one of the rooms with an outdoor deck so you can enjoy your breakfast while soaking in the sun. They offer a complimentary breakfast for two with delicious options like thick french toast custard or smoked salmon with eggs benedict.
I also love that they offer a complimentary wine and cheese mini picnic to enjoy in the afternoon for a little pick me up. If you’re craving something sweet that have complimentary homemade cookies all day.
You can also borrow a bicycle from the Inn on a first come first serve basis to explore downtown Healdsburg. Try biking to the Russian River to spend a day in the water and the outdoors.
6. Hotel Trio Healdsburg
The Hotel Trio Healdsburg is another popular spot in town to book a stay. While it’s not right on the downtown square like some of the above hotels, if you’re trying to taste in Russian River, Dry Creek Valley, and the Alexander Valley regions of Northern Sonoma County—you’ll be within driving distance.
Everything is decorated with a clean and modern aesthetic. The guest suites are huge giving you plenty of room to get comfortable.
I love the outdoor patio that has a coffee and wine bar. The pool is also located outside near the patio so you can easily spend an entire day out there.
In the mornings, they have complimentary breakfast and for dinner you can either cook in your room or take the free shuttle into downtown Healdsburg.
They also offer free bike rentals to explore and adventure during your stay.
7. Best Western Dry Creek Inn
The Best Western Dry Creek Inn is a gorgeous Tuscan inspired hotel. I’m obsessed with the villa and countryside designs. Honestly, when did Best Western get so chic?
The rooms are spacious with lots of large windows to let in natural light. Some of the rooms even have their own private balcony or patio.
There’s 2 outdoor pools here giving you the opportunity to swim and tan all day. I love that every Friday they offer a complimentary wine tasting from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. serving their favorites from local wineries.
Since you’re located closer to the wineries and vineyards, you will have to drive into the downtown area to eat the famous Healdsburg restaurants. You can read my full guide to the best restaurants in Healdsburg here.
8. Duchamp Hotel
The Duchamp Hotel is small hotel offering only 6 suites to stay in. If you’re traveling with a large group, you can even rent out the entire hotel.
The hotel has an urban oasis aesthetic that feels very LA but you’re in wine country. The outdoor area with the pool really gives off those vibes.
Everything is clean and contemporary with gorgeous pieces of art placed throughout the suites. I’m obsessed with the huge french doors in the rooms that open up to a private terrace.
The Duchamp is located in downtown so you can just walk to the nearby restaurants for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There’s some really cute coffee shops nearby to try like Black Oak Coffee Roasters or Plank Coffee.
For wine tasting, you can get a complimentary tasting for staying at the Duchamp at MacRostie Winery (just use coupon code DUCHAMP).
9. River Belle Inn
The River Belle Inn is the perfect place to stay if you’re looking for a quaint place right next to the Russian River. With 12 suites, you’ll get a very intimate experience with endless views of the water.
Staying here will definitely feel like you’ve been transported back in time—but in a good way. I love that they have morning river patio dining and private river access.
The rooms are adorable and have a vintage aesthetic. I’m in love with the rooms that have French doors that open up to a terrace that overlooks the river.
I can imagine myself now with a book in one and coffee in the other. You also won’t have to worry about WiFi here since they have free WiFi throughout.
After you’re done exploring everything the Inn has to offer, I recommend checking out the historic Healdsburg Plaza for some shopping and good food.
10. The Grape Leaf Inn
The Grape Leaf Inn is another cute Inn but this one is Victorian-style and within walking distance to the Plaza.
It’s so charming here with attention to detail in every room. If you’ve been looking to do a lovers getaway, they offer a package to celebrate and plan an entire itinerary.
The best part is the Speakeasy bar that’s tucked away behind a secret bookcase, where you can enjoy three-course tasting dinners prepared by chef, Will Case.
For more relaxation, unwind by booking a massage at their new Grape Leaf spa.
Those are all of my favorite hotels in Healdsburg California. All the hotels here have incredible reviews and I can guarantee you’ll fall in love with this little wine country town.
