A Taste of Spitalfields

During our last night in London we got to experience something a little different than the usual dinner out in Soho. Have you heard of the new Airbnb Experiences? They’ve recently launched in a few cities like SF, London and Paris, and it’s a fun way to experience something in a new city, led by a local expert. Since Omied and I are foodies, we chose a dining-related experience for our last night, but they also offer all sorts of creative experiences, including more artsy or sporty options. We went to A Taste of Spitalfields, which was held in a 300 year old building in Spitalfields that had a really interesting history. Our hostess Emma was absolutely lovely and I loved chatting with her and hearing about her experiences growing up a Londoner. She cooked up a beautiful four-course meal for a group of eight of us, and the dishes were all inspired by Spitalfields’ rich history. There was plenty of wine flowing and it was a really fun way to meet other travelers and locals, and to learn about the building’s history as a surgeon’s operating room, antique store, greasy spoon diner for workers leaving the graveyard shift, and more.
