Thanks to Stitch Fix for sponsoring this post!
I love that leopard is having such a big fall moment, because it’s truly one of my favorite prints to wear! This leopard top is actually a bodysuit and I’ve gotten majorly into bodysuits over the last year or so. They’re just so darn flattering! I paired it with this super cute suede skirt from Blank NYC, and finished the look with some over-the-knee boots. Because nothing says fall like leopard, suede, and OTKs, amirite??
Both the leopard bodysuit and the skirt are pieces I received in my recent Stitch Fix, and the bodysuit is actually part of their recent collaboration with Katie Sturino. If you’re not familiar with Katie, I love this article about how she found her path and passion as a body-positive influencer. I loved reading her story and really admire the platform she’s created, all while focusing on loving her plus size figure.
Katie’s Stitch Fix fall collection is, of course, size-inclusive and available in sizes XS – 3X. Gotta love that! I was actually recently shopping online on a super popular and trendy retailer’s site, and I was getting really frustrated because based on their size charts, their Large in a lot of their pants/skirts didn’t sound like they would fit my hips. And that was the biggest size they offered, because unfortunately a lot of brands that this retailer carries are not very size-inclusive. I was feeling pretty bummed out about it, and it was just such a negative experience.
While we’re on the topic of sizing, I wanted to call out something that I’ve received a lot of DMs about. My usual size is a Medium/8, but I’ll often size up for bottoms or really tight dresses because I have an hourglass figure. To be honest, I used to be a little shy about sharing that, but one time I thought screw it, I’m going to say it and tell people I sized up for this clothing piece, and I received a ton of messages about how it was so helpful for understanding the fit of a piece and how people admired my confidence to say, guess what, I’m wearing a large in these shorts and I look fab in them. Since then, I have no problem when I’m doing a try-on haul sharing that with you guys!
It’s not about the number on the tag, it’s about the fit of the clothing and how your outfit makes you feel. One of the many things I love about Stitch Fix is that the stylists truly get that. Because my stylist has gotten a feel for what I like and keep and my body type, I’ll often receive a fix with different sizes in it—it’s not a one-size-fits-all approach, and Stitch Fix uses data to help them provide a seamless experience for all of their users. For example, they learned early on that over 15% of curvy women using Stitch Fix wore Plus sizes only on the top or bottom—that’s me, on the bottom! So their stylists can find the right pieces for my shape, independent of size.
I’ve discovered so many new brands through my fixes, and I always appreciate how thoughtful my stylist is with sizing—I always feel like the box is so tailored to me and my style and body.
