6 Best Foundations for Textured Skin

1. Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation

This has been my go-to foundation for YEARS. Like maybe a decade??

This amazing foundation has recently found popularity through TikTok. It seems like all of a sudden it’s everyone’s holy grail—you NEEDED to try it.

The coverage is amazing and lasts such a long time. It’s oil-free and waterproof—can it get any better?

Anyone with uneven skin tone will love it. It leaves your skin looking smooth and perfect!

I wear this foundation for long days, photoshoots, you name it, and it holds up.

This buildable coverage foundation gets nothing but positive reviews from me. Go out and buy this before it starts selling out again!

This product also comes as a powder foundation which I’ve given a try, but I love the dewy finish of the liquid foundation finished with a lighter powder like BareMinerals.

But still, Estee Lauder, you amaze me.

2. EVXO Peek-A-Boo Organic Liquid Mineral Foundation

I found this foundation on a whim of wanting to try vegan makeup. I’ve been wanting to test more clean makeup and this one was first on my list.

There’s a reason this foundation is constantly sold out—it works. It works well with oily skin but even on my days with extremely dry skin, this dewy finish foundation looks fabulous.

I love this foundation because it doesn’t clog my pores whatsoever. It’s great for those with sensitive skin—I def recommend this foundation!

This was my first mineral foundation but it won’t be my last. I was too impressed with it.

3. Mac Studio Fix Fluid Foundation

I’ve been using Mac makeup for years but didn’t come around to trying this foundation until a makeup artist used it on me. One of my biggest regrets would be my textured skin not finding it sooner.

It’s a best seller for a reason, it works so well—almost too well. They have such an amazing shade range it seems almost impossible to not be able to find your skin tone.

It claims to be a 24 hour full coverage foundation, and while I’ve never used it for this long (what am I, 22 raging all night at a club??), but it stays on. What I love about it is that it’s lightweight yet hydrating.

I’ve tried a couple of foundations that claim to be hydrating and they feel extremely heavy on my skin. This one is different, it’s lightweight and has never made me break out after using it!

It’s for all skin types and I think it works exceptionally well with textured skin. If you’re missing a long-wear buildable foundation, get this immediately!

4. Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Liquid Foundation

Had to throw a drug store option into the mix! One thing about me, I will forever hold this Maybelline foundation close to my heart. The quality you get for the price is amazing.

They have a pretty good shade range, so you most likely will find your true shade! They also have a dewy variation of this foundation that I have yet to try.

What I like about this foundation is that it looks gorgeous when applied with a beauty sponge. It blends well and can be built up without looking cakey.

I’ve used this foundation to carve my eyebrows on a no-makeup day and it looks so natural and seamless. This is one of my go-to’s when I have more texture than usual on my skin, but I’m not trying to go all out with my makeup for a shoot (aka I’m saving my more expensive Estee Lauder for another time lol).

This one is definitely for the oily skin gals, all my friends with oily skin have used it and had no complaints. If you have uneven skin texture it works well too!

5. Tom Ford Traceless Soft Matte Foundation

This Tom Ford foundation has to be one of my top picks because of the fact it has hyaluronic acid. The hyaluronic acid moisturizes your skin which is key to covering up textured skin.

This foundation has medium coverage but can easily be built up. I noticed this foundation has this skin-blurring effect—I get nonstop compliments when wearing it.

This is another foundation that comes in a matte finish which surprised me because I happen to look glowy when using it. I also don’t get oily quickly while wearing this foundation which is a good thing.

The formula is fairly light which is good because I hate the feel of a heavy foundation. If you’re trying to go for a natural look but need coverage, this one’s for you.

6. Tarte Amazonian Clay 16-Hour Full Coverage Foundation

I won’t lie, this foundation is definitely a hit or a miss depending on your skin tone. For me, it’s a total hit.

What I love about this foundation is that it’s oil-free which works in my favor since I tend to have oily skin. The longevity of this foundation never fails to impress me.

If you use a good setting powder and spray, you’re good for at least 8 hours. I’ve tried this foundation on its own with only a little powder and it still lasted around 6-7 hours.

Their shade range is pretty good, around 46 shades. I know most people aren’t fond of matte finishes with textured skin but this blends like a dream, your textured skin disappears!

FAQs

What should I look for in a foundation?

If you have acne-prone skin, definitely look into oil-free makeup as it won’t clog your pores which causes more acne! For textured skin, a foundation with buildable coverage is key.

Are drugstore foundations good for textured skin?

It’s all about the ingredients and formulation, not always the price. One of my favorites is from the drugstore! Pricier foundations may have better ingredients though.

How do I make my foundation not look textured?

The foundation itself is a super important aspect but along with that, a good primer. Primers that leave you looking poreless are great for eliminating texture.
